JAM? :) anyone? I heard one of our local youngguns made an impressive showing against a couple of the big names. Anyone else know anything about what's going on over there?

There's a sub forum at the top of the page for the tourney. Brandon has been updateing JAM as best he can. Also DoomCue is playing in it and giving updates. Jennie & Keith are on the road tonight so unless DoomCue gives any updates, we might not hear anything until tomorrow...

Not for the Carolinas - but for the JPNewt

The two day JPNewt WPBA Qualifier in Maryland has found our young gun Pamela Treadway playing for the second day. She starts at 10:30 this morning. She did suffer a loss yesterday to Tiffany Nelson. They had their match tied up at 4-4, then they both battled hard during the next three games, but Tiffany ended up victorious with a 7-4 win. Hell of a showing for Pam though. She had Tiffany on two fouls twice in the last three games. She can fight with the best of them.
I'm heading back there today - Let me know if y'all are interested - I'll post some again later.

I would love to have an update when you get back! Pam's adorable but fierce. She's got a lot of heart & I'm very curious to see how she ends up finishing today. Ceci, thanks for the update!

Ditto.....I'm still kinda mad that I can't be there playin' in this one. Did Gremlin grace you with his presence??? Oh and did Julie Kelly/Karen Corr make it down or was there a Joss tourney this weekend too??

Sorry guys - I've been home a while & I forgot all about you. (hee hee).
Anyway -
Tiffany Nelson 1st
Kim Shaw 2nd
Sueyen Rhee 3rd
Pamela Treadway 4th & the qualifier for the Women's US Open in October!!!

She was the last non-pro standing. There was a good crowd there today to watch the final 6. I'm really proud of her for sticking it out all weekend. Her parents showed up, I got to meet them, real nice couple.

So we get to look forward to another show at the pro's for Pamela! That girl is going up in this world.

LOL, I'm not surprised that she was the last non pro standing... she's all but pro... just a little more time. ;) I'm looking forward to seeing how she does in the Open. And I agree, she's moving right up the ladder. :p

Pamela Treadway, as good as she plays and as cute as people say she is, is nothing but a low-life stiff.

She loves to gamble with her equally low life boyfriend, Josh Brothers by her side, and then stiff her opponent for the cash if she happens to lose.

And then if you ask her, as I did when I got stiffed, how she can sleep at nights knowing that she's dishonest, she says, "Pool is a tough life and we're just trying to make ends meet."

And this is a 17-year-old!

Actually, she's 18 now, but those are some mighty harsh adjectives you have chosen to describe Pam and Josh. This type of bashing doesn't belong here, and it sounds like it's a personal beef between you and Pam and/or Josh (IMO).

FWIW, if you want to talk about action, I think action in Yankee country is all but nonexistent, usually a bunch of locksmiths hoping to rob somebody.

Though there are a very select few Yankee action players, I don't know of too many stepping up to the plate with gamble AND HEART the way they do it down South, and if and when they do, you'd better watch the post monies and hope it doesn't get stolen as it did in Boston in recent times.

My point is, that even if she's "going up in the world" as one poster just put it, she's got a very, very long way to go. There are other measures of how far up in the pool world you are besides how many racks of 9-ball you can run.

The kid is 18 years old.

As far as "other measures of how far up in the pool world you are," the game/sport isn't very rewarding. Check out a couple of living legends and Hall of Famers. If you're a five-time U.S. Open champion, a celebrated Hall of Famer in the BCA, or a famed action player, that and a nickel won't buy you a cup of coffee, no matter how many racks of 9-ball you can run.

Jenny, although you actually don't come out and say it, it seems like you're condoning this type of unethical behavior. Yes, she's 18 years old -- that means she's an adult. And frankly, if one hasn't learned how to differentiate right from wrong by age 18, it's unlikely one ever will. Are you trying to say that being poor is a license to steal? We've met and talked a little at Pete Fusco's place, and I know that you don't honestly believe that this type of thing is just dead wrong. Take any of the truly successful players out there (as people and as players) like Johnny Archer, Mike Davis, Jeremy Jones, Allison Fisher, and Vivian Villareal. Can you imagine any of these players doing something like that -- at 18 or any age?

Frankly, no matter how "un-lucrative" the tournament trail is and no matter how little action there is, NOTHING can justify outright stealing -- whether it's taking money off of the light or stiffing someone when they beat you fair and square.

I don't know what this means.

Right...it was more for me. Reference to next wk's USOpen where I hope to break/ run for 6days. F-it, lets' go for 7!!

Those players you mentioned. I'll bet more than one has reneged on a lost bet. Just coz we don't know doesn't mean it didn't happen. People make poor chioces- fact of life. Sucks if you got stung, hard to find a reason why stiffing someone would be the right choice.

The printed word often gets misconstrued, BackPocket9Ball, much like you stating it seems like I'm condoning "this type of unethical behavior."

I do not believe it serves any purpose to give a one-sided rendition of an incident which occured between you and Pam and/or Josh and then lace the post with name-calling, i.e., "low life" or "license to steal."

You post your recollection of how the event unfolded. Is it fair in your opinion for the readers of this forum to take your word as gospel and not have the benefit of hearing the other side of the story?

JMHO, FWIW.

JAM

No, it's not fair for Josh and Pam not to give their side of the story, but stating my opinion doesn't have to be fair -- it's just my opinion. Just like there were a lot of opinions flying around on the Ruberto/Macias match a couple months ago. I never stated that my word is gospel.

But to give another opinion to further elaborate the story, Josh wanted to fight in Drexeline's parking lot when I took the matter to Bob Maidhoff.

A forum is all about posting opinions -- no matter how light-hearted or encendiary they may be. Gospel is to be determined by the readers. I just state things how I witnessed them happen.

As I stated previously, the printed word is often misconstrued. Because I chose to use the word "gospel," you reply by providing a definition of what "gospel" means to you.

It is unfortunate that you have had an incident which was unfavorable to you between you and/or Pam and Josh.

Opinions, though, are just that, and everyone is entitled to one for sure.

However, as it has been stated so many times previously, including the Boston debacle, there are THREE sides to every story. In this instance, it would be yours, Pam's and/or Josh's, and the truth. :p

Now, before you get upset thinking that I am posting that you are not telling the truth, I am truly just stating my opinion. I am saddened, though, when I read the terms "low life" and "license to steal" pertaining to two pool players whom I happen to like. Again, more words and opinions, and I have just stated mine in response to you. :)

Your opinion is respected. I'm not trying to argue.
