Planet Pool Event in Sterling

I was waiting for someone to post...

You and I are what we get?!
(I dunno either!)

Piglet,

Did you play? How did you do?

Unfortunately, I forgot to bring a game with me and went two and out. It was my first Planet Pool event and even though I played lousy, I'll definitely be back.

I just don't know if I'll go back to Sterling or not. Nice place, but it just isn't built to handle that many players. I thought Nick and his staff did a good job keeping things moving considering the number of tables.

Anyone know the final results?

The final match was played out by Mike Davis and Jim "Shorty" Henson. Shorty was in the winner's bracket, and Mike needed to beat him twice in order to win the tournament. Mike beat Shorty the first set. I didn't see the last match, but it looked like Mike Davis was closing in with a score of 7 to 2, racing to 9.

The Planet Pool 9-Ball staff did a great job, as usual, and Fast Break Cafe is my kind of place.

Mike Davis was the winner of the recent Reno Open as well as the points leader of last year's Falcon Cue Tour. Mike is a solid player, and I think we are going to be reading a lot more about Mike Davis in the coming months.

Didn't I just tell you people that Jim Henson, aka: Shorty, is the best player in VA, thrice?

Thanks lots for the update, Keith. You drilled a friend of mine in the tourney, and had him smiling the whole time!!

Shorty fought a hard battle this tournament and beat a lot of tough players to stay in the winner's bracket. He played his heart out, and I have a great deal of respect for his game.

I saw Mike in action Friday night and he was in top form. Not surprising that he would win this one.

Sorry I couldn't make it to Sterling to see this one. Maybe next time.
