Plastic at Valley Forge?????

Yea, you know what, it sure did seem that way, didn't it? I don't remember seeing one item from anybody and saying "Damn, now that's a good deal!"

Every vendor is different. Some will take plastic, some wont.

Just remember for your check cards that a lot or most have a maximum limit that you can charge or withdraw daily. Sometimes you can call to have your limit raised as well.

Yet ANOTHER reason I like AMEX. No limit....aside from the one I set on myself.

At least that way, I have the liberty of making the judgement call as to what I can swing for a payment within 3-4 weeks from the date of purchase...instead of begging my bank to let me withdraw 2000-3000 in one day to buy a cue I really want.

Not saying they're the best game in town for everyone...but it works pretty well for me.

To get into the convention it is cash only. There is an atm machine at the entrance. Most vendors will accept plastic. Some vendors might give you a better deal for cash.

True.....but if I understood it correctly, those of us playing in the Tourney get entry into the show for the duration of the event.

Hope that's true....since I'd hate to throw away that 75 bucks tourney fee on ONE game!!!

Whats the smoking policy at VF ?

Up until 2006, smoking was allowed.
For the 2005 show, there was a huge cloud in the play area.
But for the 2006 show, all the smokers convened outside the expo center.
Have not heard anything about this years but will assume it will be smoke free.

Hopefully the weather will be dry and if it were warm that would be better yet.
I do not smoke but I do accompany my fiancee when she needs one...

Obviously you need to practice to get two rounds of play at least.

Hiya Guys,

This upcoming Valley Forge is the first one for me...and I just had a thought.

I usually do all my transactions through Paypal....or use my AMEX card (since I have to pay it off in full every month, it keeps me "level headed.") when I buy cues or cases.

Are the vendors and dealers set up at the show to accept plastic, or is CASH the only method of payment accepted there? I don't imagine ALL of 'em will take a card...but wasn't sure about the setup....like phone lines available to hook the machines up to...or if they have the old-style card swipe boxes.

For those of you in the know...please share your info. This could have devastating impact on my plans to purchase a couple cues while I'm there!!

We're taking cash only at the PoolTees booth. But for the most part, we only sell small ticket items. It's rare that someone will buy more than two or three shirts so it's not really worth having a credit card account for us. But for the bigger ticket dealers, like cues and cases, many of them will take cards. Can't expect people to carry that much cash with them.
