This table is in a genuine California ghost town called Bodie. The town was deserted in the 1940s, is now protected as a state historic park, and is managed in a state of 'arrested decline'. By the looks of it, that table must have been there since the town was originally built (1800s?) -- or at least shortly thereafter anyway. I wonder if it can be rescued and put in a museum somewhere or restored. Can't get tables like this every day, not to mention the accessories in that room!

I wonder if Fatboy can get hold of this for his place -- that would be sweet:)

Wow. I found a couple old old old tables in a mining town in Idaho but not fancy like this. Beautiful.

I was thinking that too -- those old cues, cue stand, snow skis, and who knows what else in that room would bring a buck or two as well  . Sure looks heavy -- doubt if I could haul it off in my Tundra.

I sure hope Fatboy sees this thread and makes a road trip.

I will offer $10,000 per pocket for the table.

For sixty thousand I'll relocate it and put the pockets in it. At $10,000 per pocket I'll even put a couple extra in it! Half down, half on delivery. It will be a wee bit "warm".

Actually the table is exactly where it belongs now, in the shape it should be in. The entire town of Bodie is an open air museum and shouldn't be altered in any way.

You would have to steal it.

Bodie is a Historical Landmark Site.

I have seen that table there many times.

Pretty cool!!!!

I did some googling and this site http://images.google.com/imgres?img...v=/images?q=Bodie+California&gbv=2&hl=en&sa=G says that Bodie is "The Most Famous Ghost Town in America" and was established in the 1870s. California State Parks Department (CSPD) took over Bodie in 1962 and initiated a program of 'arrested decay'.

CSPD web site on Bodie :http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=509 Everything you would need to know about Bodie is there -- including a link to a map. Goggle "Bodie California" under "images" and there are tons of pics.

It is in Mono County (High Sierra region); therefore, and I'm guessing here, these folks my be who you would need to contact. If not, I'm sure they can steer you in the right direction:

California Department of Parks and Recreation
Office of Historic Preservation
1416 9th Street, Room 1442, Sacramento, CA 95814
P.O. Box 942896 Sacramento, CA 94296-0001
TEL: 916-653-6624 | FAX: 916-653-9824 | calshpo@parks.ca.gov

The Mission Statement (below) will more than likely mean a lot of red tape.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) and the State Historical Resources Commission (SHRC), in partnership with the people of California and governmental agencies, is to preserve and enhance California's irreplaceable historic heritage as a matter of public interest so that its vital legacy of cultural, educational, recreational, aesthetic, economic, social, and environmental benefits will be maintained and enriched for present and future generations.

Can't hurt to drop them an email inquiry, right

I agree with you in part. Would you still say this if, after further research, it turns out this is the only table of this kind left? Would you still want it to be caught up in the "program of 'arrested decay'?" Part of their mission statement reads: ..... "preserve and enhance California's irreplaceable historic heritage as a matter of public interest so that its vital legacy of cultural, educational, recreational, aesthetic, economic, social, and environmental benefits will be maintained and enriched for present and future generations."
