After 16 weeks of league we were down to the final 4 last nite. 8 ball. Standard format, 4 man team, 16 games possible. It went all the way, 8-8 down to a tie breaker. I played for our team, and they chose Kelly, their top guy. Its like the finals in the US open!!! My teams cheering, their teams cheering. It was really loud!! He breaks nice, good spread, could get out on either choice, makes a couple stripes and misses. And I'll be darned if the 8 didn't roll up right in front of the corner pocket and right in front of 2 of my solids. So now I have to move and hide. It went back and forth for a couple turns and I tried and made a bank on one of the blocked balls but froze up on the other ball. Came up a little short on my safe and he had a shot. Made 3 of his last 4 but came up short on the last stripe. Had to cut the nine and get shape on the 8 with 2 of my solids still on the table. Problem was he couldn't avoid hitting the 8 on the short rail. It was close enough to the corner pocket to easily go in[it had been moved since the start].They took a time out and went over and over every possiblity. We are doing the same on our side. What if? what if? Kelly finally took the shot, missed the cut, hit the 8, rolled it over and hung it on the edge of the pocket, left me a shot and I'm out. The crowd went wild. One of those nights to remember and retell a few times. Its how legends are born!! lol In the last words of James Tiberius Kirk: It was ---fun!

Congrats! There really is nothing like winning the hill-hill game in team play. Some of my favorite pool memories are from playing in teams competition.
