Player cue for under 1k$, which one

Scour the used market, there are smoking deals on cues that are not plain jane and are from top end cue makers, such as the Gilbert posted which would likely cost you more from the builder then on the second hand market. There are so many awesome cues that come up for sale and $1000 atm is not a bad chunk of money. There are people sitting on some pretty nice cues they are trying to sell could use $1000 more then one of their cues.

Depending on where you live and the local used cue market if you can it is always best to see the cue in person and try it out before you buy it, if at all possible.

Yep...the only way to go imo..
To op..get out to a few cue shows if you can..haggle an barter.

Please explain your last sentence

The "art" of cue making is pretty well defined on the playing level at this time, in my humble opinion.[/QUOTE]
I didn't understand what you meant.
Thanks

If your sole purpose is to get better , I would go a little differant direction before buying another cue,, in the grand scheme of things the cue butt makes little differance,, shane and earl playing with a cutec and Archer with a scorpion would be case in point,,

The shaft and the tip on the other hand do make a big differance , so if your not playing with a good shaft on that cue a shaft up grade will change the way the cue plays dramaticly,, and a shaft up grade is realitivly cheap , used one here 100- 150 should get that done

Investment in a lesson from a BCA certified instructor will pay big dividands in the long run build your game from the ground up and thats a perfect place to start,,

Another great source for learning is you tube , Max Eberle comes to mind who has many good drills and there are many others , also plenty of matches to watch and learn

paractice practice practice play play play,, shoot some cheap sets jump into some turneys , and your game will increase 10 fold

If thiers one word that decribes what it takes to be a good player that word would be...

Dedication

Best cue for 1K or less

Rick Howard makes a real nice, super playing cue for 1k or less. I've picked up 3 of them in the used market for around 500 each. Dollar for dollar, I say Rick's cues are hard to beat.

Now that's what Blue Grass Hustlers or selling for, but I think the Blue Grass Hustlers are one of the best cues at any price.

I have seen people ask that for them but I havent ever seen anyone pay it. Not saying no one has I just havent seen it. Last couple of wrapped Bluegrass PJ's I bought were $900 and $1100 but that was a few years back.

All of Richards cues are great IMO and his players are one of the solid values around that $1000 price point.

You can get a cue built for under 1,000 or buy one for under 1,000 that will play great!

The amount of money a cue cost is not equal to how well it plays or how well you will play with it.

There are a few things that really do matter in a cue to make it play well, but all those things can be done for waaaaay less than 1,000

Your just paying for the name of the cue builder at some point.

I will admit that the quality of the build comes into play with cue builders for sure and the materials, and methods used. But like I said, you can get a great playing cue for waaay under 1,000 used.

Try one of Rick Howards cues........ if you order new, you will pay over 1,000 probably, but you can find a used one for under for sure....

jmho

I have never played with uber fancy cues but love my JD's and coker. Maybe test drive a JD from someone. Great cue for great money!!!
