Players dropping out of the Matchroom/Predator CLP

Probably a simple case of some players withdrawing/not accepting the invitation because they believe the risk vs reward doesn't favour them.

So, 19 players in total. Based on their current FargoRates, their world rankings are:

Top 25 -- 4 players (Filler, Feijen, Kaci, A. Ouschan)
26-50 -- 4 players (Oi, Kazakis, Alcaide, Grabe)
51-100 -- 6 players (Fortunski, Gomez, Melling, Appleton, Thorpe, Matikainen)
101+ -- 5 players (Fisher, Bijsterbosch, Robinson, J. Ouschan, Tkach)
Las Vegas Open was biggest event before covid-19 took over. It was not a major but yet drew about 15 of top 25. This one only had miserable 4 of top 25.
Overall talent level is really weak
I will still watch though ;)

are all spots filled though? only one pinoy and one japanese is a pretty weak showing from that continent

So it's tough to call who this format favors. That will be something interesting to watch this time.
Are you kidding? If you are in Group 1, you are alive if you are #1 to #6. If you are in Group 7, you are alive if you are #1.
Of cos the format favors Group 1

Yes all filled. Prizemoney not bad (in pool terms) . Winner of group assured of $5K
Jasmin and Denis Grabe should insist on appearance money since they were last 2 chucked into Group 7:D

So the event winner will not necessarily win the most money. Example -- if you win in Group 1 and then also win the Winners' Group, you receive a total of $9,000. If you are the runner-up 6 times in a row in Groups 1-6 ($2,000 each time), then win in Group 7 ($4,000), and then win the Winners' Group ($5,000), you receive a total of $21,000. Of course trying to do something sly to maximize your winnings could lead to not making it to the Winners' Group or even getting eliminated in an early Group.

No. There are only 19 contestants.

Group 1 has their round robin on the first day. The winner goes to the winner's group.
2nd through 6th go into Group 2, and join the two new players already assigned to Group 2
7th is eliminated.

The next day, Group 2 has their round robin.

At the end of 7 days, the 7 group winners have their own round robin.

This is a league tournament, not a single or double-elimination tournament.

If you win this, you've fought your way through at least two round robins, and possibly as many as 8 round robins. It's pretty gruelling.

There is a Snooker Championship League run the same way.

Really? Do you think Jayson Shaw, Sky Woodward, Fedor Gorst and SVB are intimidated by this field?

He can certainly answer for himself but I wonder if he meant the risk of running afoul of their deal with their sponsors, being photographed and otherwise displayed in a competitor's logo, etc.? Hard to imagine that he meant they are scared of the field. Heck, maybe he meant that risk of travel during a pandemic and incurring the costs to do so with so little money available for doing well.

Yeah you pretty much nailed what I meant.

Where does everything come from?

WTF does that have to with anything?? Predator is a U.S. company with various production sites. The Revo's are made in Boston. The main factory is in China and is one of the largest, most modern facilities on earth. Same factory makes Lucasi, Players, Dufferin, most of ADAM and others.

NEVER said it was American made except for the Revo's. Why does it even matter? They used to use Falcon in Canada to make most of their stuff until Ernie moved back to China. Predator offers good products at fair prices. Why whine about it where its made? If they built everything here you probably couldn't afford one.
