Players Weekend Rant ! Is Pool relaxation?,.... or Frustration?

It's both but this weekend was all about relaxation. I went to an exhibition with Johnny Archer and Dennis Hatch. I got to play scotch doubles with JA as my partner and we ran the table! I'm still grinning about it 4 days later. :)

Since then, unfortunately, my back seized up and I haven't touched a cue. It should be better by tomorrow (league night.)

Five hours of one pocket on Friday night. My first pool in two weeks. (Honest! Would I lie about that?) I had a great time. An excellent opponent and a friendly game with informed railbirds. I'm seventy years old and playing the best pool of my life. This is the opposite of frustration.

Well, I found out a lil something today. My sunday night 9-ball opp was "coached" rather well by a solid S/L 7 I beat-up pretty bad . Last time I played him was just before Christmas and it wasn't pretty(for him). He took the loss cordially , and with a good attitude. He was a team-mate on another team from 2 years ago. We know each other pretty well. So my friend is a team-mate on my opps team now.
His way of getting a little "spirited pay-back" lol. (Can you say "Bush-whacked by proxy?" :lmao: )
Its all good !! This is just what I needed :grin-square::grin-devilish:

Turns out they had a "Plan" We are the stronger team, (on paper). the other teams' captain took advantage of my own capt's inexperience, and a few facts. (our heavy was at a tournament out of state this weekend), I surmise opps cap't knew this prior to this weeks team match. SHREWD !

And here I am like a dummy so-overconfident and anxious that I go seek some fun on a BB the night before.

Enuff of my match:

I can relate to all who posted. I'll try to answer all in this post.

Yeah, competing in a tourney with a strong field does get the blood pumping. I personally don't care where I place; I just try my best!

I love the get 'em next time attitude. I'm the same way. High, (and low for that matter), emotions such as glory, (and grief) are fleeting; they don't last forever!

Pool is pretty much a roller-coaster ride. Ups and downs,..... perspective,....... hindsight. Its all good. We all just love to play, and that is what keeps us coming back for more.

Sharing thoughts and experiences is what I think forums are all about. It is how we collectively grow/excel.

AS FOR ME; I beat myself up for everything I do wrong, its just how I deal with things.

Thank you for all who have posted and read this thread!
AND BEST TO ALL

KRUPA,
sooooooo cool ! That match was on the other side of the state. I'm saving highway time for SBE coming up shortly. Playing doubles w/ Johnny Archer,........... how cool is that ??

Well, From MY perspective,.............. :lmao::lmao:

There is nothing quite like watching some of the older gentleman play. Completely relaxed, speed,............. touch,........ etc.

I had the pleasure of playing side by side with a very good older Gent last session. I learned a lot by just watching his prowess with a cue.

There are times when I have been totally relaxed, and totally frustrated,.............. sometimes within minutes of one-another !
