Great thread here. The lesson I get from it is that if you find a cue that works for you, hang on to it!
I'm guessing it is partly the cue and partly psychology at work.
I agree. Partly both. But I think that one can adjust to the new equipment pretty quick. A week or so if playing regularly. I went from a 20 oz cue to a 17 oz cue. both with thin, "whippy" shafts and the transition was seem less.
What I found to be tougher to adjust to was when I switched shafts a couple of months ago. My new shaft is old growth wood and 12.4 mm compared to the old whippy one @ 11.7 mm. I could really tell a difference on long shots using inside English. Missed pretty badly often. That took some adjusting to. I hadnt Ben playing much during that time, so it took me a month before I felt good about the shaft. Two months I. And I'm playing my top game again...maybe better than before ( not because of the new equipment, but because I took a break from pool and returned and had more fun and shot with more focus).
Now, off to the dcc for the afternoo .
