Playing someone who is High

Its petty cash, not hundreds of dollars or I would make him post. Im pretty sure he would pay because he has been beaten by someone else and paid. Plus if he didnt the word would get out and he'd loose all his action. Even on his high we're not to far off. Playing $5 9 ball it takes him 4 hrs to beat me out of 40.

Im going to wait until Ive seen him tweeking two nights in a row playing other people. Then ask to play on the third night. After he goes outside to "make a phone call" Im going to say I have to leave for something and Ill be right back. I show again in a couple of hours and try the slow play tactic. Maybe that will be enough to throw him off.

All of this for $5 a game! LOL

Assuming...

So Ive been gambling regularly with someone you I believe is on meth. Lots of going outside for a minute and bloodshot eyes followed by excellent shot making and position play. How long can they keep this up, how long before they crash. The wonderful thing about gambling is that you are more in control of what when and how you bet. I trying to strategically anticipate when this guy will go on a crash.

You seem to assume a lot about the guy you think is a meth user.

I can't tell you how many times I've taken a quick break from a gambling match to simply step outside for some fresh air...and played better afterwards. I'm sure some onlookers thought I might be going out to get high. Your guy might be going out for a nicotine high, amphetamines, cocaine, crack, a hip flask or whatever.

Unless you feel like you're in danger, just play or don't play based on whether you win.

There's that old saying about "assume"...

Interesting thread. I'll bet that many a former champ has played high.

I'm sure some of our members know of someone or maybe were themselves 'loaded' and shot lights out. Maybe they would be willing to tell us some stories.

Don ;)

From what I gather it's more like 5-6 hours.. If their clinching their jaw and aren't drinking and won't stfu there's a good chance that's what's up

Ditto... And if this guy is tooting crank and has any kind of game at all without it... you better shoot at a 9 or 10 level if you want to keep your money. As someone else posted in this thread, if you really insist on competing against someone who you believe is on meth... your going to have to play defense to the effects of the drug. When it's your time at the table, slow down as much as you can. Look over each shot from every side of the table... he'll be climbing the walls to do something other than standing there waiting. However, if he is on crank... too much of that and you may find yourself in a crazy confrontation.

If he doesn't seem jittery, then he's probably just blowing a few clouds outside. Speed freaks don't need to boost themselves as often as you're describing, and I've shot against some people that would get so high off of pot that they couldn't keep up with solids or stripes between turns... but once you told them you might as well sit down for awhile, because they could still shoot a mean stick while stoned.

If you're loosing more money to him than you're gaining, I'd avoid gambling with him. If you spend too much time thinking about it while you're shooting against him, then you are likely going to loose. After all, shooting excellent at the table is learning how to stop thinking while still playing the game.

From smoking it? I haven't played anyone who was obviously doing it for over ten years so I will defer to you but back then it was like 30 minutes and they were hitting it again.

Now speed pills....yeah I could see that. The old timers here know more about the pills.

If he is wasting getting high on $5 a game action then it doesn't matter. You're wasting your time trying to play head games. Just play hard and outrun the nuts.

Lol.. I'm sure they do.. Thing is, the new schoolers know more about them. Seems like everyone one and their mother now a days has ADD and needs adderall. Prescription meth as far as I'm concerned.

Hes known for it and its obvious.

5 a game is cheap but its an easy way to see how the guy plays. Few people play on the same level day in and day out. Everyone has their ups and downs. Im just trying to play him enough that he smokes so much meth that he goes on a crash and doesnt know it. He his known to punish his wallet when he starts shooting badly. Just looking for a pattern.

So you're looking to take advantage of a guy who is obviously on drugs? Why don't you find someone to play who's NOT on drugs and will give you some competition? Oh wait I forgot all pool players want a lock or else they won't play. Try to help the guy instead of helping your wallet.

Good post Kris. It's sad that some people are always looking to take advantage of another's frailty. :frown:

I think morals of the matter are a little outside the scope of the question. Besides, he's no saint and is not getting taken advantage of. He uses a lot of sharking tactics. Im just playing his own game. In regards to playing other people I do, but I also pick some people and play them as much as I can until I beat them regularly. Like running a race, pick one person ahead of you and pass them, then pick someone else.

critics....smh

While that may be true ... the question itself tells an awful lot about yours!

Ok so I guess what your saying is that being methodical about when and how I gamble with a sharking meth head is un ethical. Im not forcing him to use meth, nor am I forcing him to play.
