Playing Tips

I'm pretty curious about cue tips and wonder what is really suitable for me?

I've played only on layered tips before, like moori III and currently a kamui black. Played awhile with a talisman tip too.

Recently, I heard from my friend that single layered tips do play better on higher end cues so as to utilize the shaft better (and that if you used layered tips, you might actually be depending on the tip rather than the technology of the cue). Is that true?

I will really love to know the pros and cons of layered tips vs. single layered tips.

Also, it will be great to know what is the better single layer tips out there? Say, Elkmaster vs Le Pro vs Everest vs Sniper (this is single layered right?) vs. Triangle.

Thanks!

Arknova I see you are doing the tip thing. Everyone seems to have there favorite tip. My layered tip of choice, kamui soft brown. Now for the best none layered tip that I'm swithing to is the (Triangle on Steroids)sold I believe by hangemhigh here on AZ. They hold chalk better than my layered tip. This is one mans opinion. Hope this helps.:)

arknova...That is total nonsense! A tip is a tip, whether it's layered or not...whether it's on a $50 Players cue, or a $5000 custom. Some people claim that one tip plays better than another...again nothing to do with whether it is layered or not...it's just an opinion. Some people like some tips better than others...and that's all there is to it. Your friend is mistaken.
