This is my scenario.
I have a Cuetech Cynergy shaft that is the 3/8x14. Now in doing all my reading/research it is undersized. From what I have found I can order a undersized tap for Cuetech 3/8x14. The issue is the pin. They are not available.
The reason for this is I want a custom butt built for my Cynergy shaft. I have not had it long and I am not about to dump it as I am happy with it.
My buddy is a 40+ year machinist who also builds and repairs our competition rifles. So getting a straight proper pin is not an issue for him.
These are a few things I want to clarify for him. The fellow who i have talked to about making the butt advised to have it made 3.25" long. I will have one end threaded for the standard 3/8x10. I am assuming it is standard? I will then have him leave a shank and thread the pin end for the shaft a undersized 3/8x14. He will have my existing butt/shaft and measure the threads to be sure to make them right. I will also have him put a length wise relief cut in the shank on his mill.
I hope this is correct so far?
Last questions. How much 3/8x10 thread is enough? 1/2"?
How much undersized 3/8x14 thread? 1"?
The only reason to do the duel thread on the pin is to avoid ordering the undersized tap for the builder.
Thanks in advance.

By the way, I am new to the forum and figured this is the place that I can get the exposure to ask questions. I play in the Aactive pool league based out of Winnipeg. My home table is at the Army and Navy in Brandon, MB
