Please explain why kamui chalk is a "scam"

cleary

Honestly, I'm a liar.

I want to hear from people who have actually got a cube of chalk, used it and thought they were scammed out of their money. It seems everyone wants to chime in on how its a "scam" but none of them have actually used it. I've been using the chalk since December and I personally think its worth every penny. My accuracy while using english has greatly improved which means my game has improved. I've cashed in more tournaments since starting to use the chalk then ever before and won more gambling. Anyone in my area that knows me can tell you my game has went up a lot (nearly right away) since December. I'm wondering which part of this 'scam' I'm not going to like????

People think its a scam because it costs x20 more than your standard chalk

By definition, it's not a scam if it does what it says.
I think it's a lot of money for chalk but I would never call it a scam.

I used to talk bad about it. Didn't necessarily think it was a scam, just thought that it was overpriced and not worth the money.

I've since bought a cube and used it and have to say I like it. I've seen every benefit that everyone else has talked about and it has improved my game, (I'm like a C player...so it can only improve it so much).

People love to throw the word scam out there for a lot of things and don't really know what it means...

I don't think that anyone out there could get this chalk, try it out, and not agree with 90% of the reviews out there. They might not agree on the value of the chalk or may not want to pay that much, but there is no way that they could continue to call it a scam.

Please explain how what type of chalk you have on your tip has anything to do with how accurately you hit the cb??

I wish I could explain it, but I'm really not sure what exactly happens. All I know is it feels like, when I use english, the tip grabs the cueball and the cueball travels in a straighter, more consistently straight line. I don't know the science behind it, but I see the proof when I use it.

I don't mean to be devils advocate but your opinion is biased if you spent the $30. I mean if I dropped $30 on a cube of chalk I could swear up and down that pigs are flying ;)

Maybe Scam is the wrong word how about farce?

I like this question!

I've been using Master chalk for a looooong time, and the only time I miscue is when I jump out of a shot!

It is not a scam

it is magic, and you sir, have fallen under its spell.

And since buying my first cube i've bought several others. If it didn't make a difference, I wouldn't keep buying it.

I don't think the money has anything to do with my opinion. To be completely honest, $30 is nothing (for me). I will buy a $30 drink at the bar that lasts 10 min. I've spend much more on much less. I'm not a millionaire and don't make it rain in the club... but $30 is nothing for something I feel improves my game.

i can say i bought some. i used it, i played alot with it and really liked it. however, it's not worth the cost TO ME. It does give a bit more grab, but i notices alot of white spots on my cloth when using. probably my fault, used to much etc. it does stick well, probably 10-12 shots before needing to apply again. all this being said, it isn't worth it TO ME. For me, I do not need something this good. I noticed ZERO improvement in my game vs. good old Master's chalk.

I will not argue that the product is far suppior! If it would come down in price to something like 3-5 cubes for $10, give or take a bit, i would probably buy more and use consistantly. But I'm just not good enough to warrant the current price.

Kamui > than every other chalk~!!! cost is reflective...

NO SCAM HERE FOLKS!!! PEOPLE WILL ONLY PAY WHAT SOMETHING IS WORTH. PEOPLE ARE PAYING FOR IT AT $30 A CUBE OR SO, THAT WOULD IMPLY WHAT THEN...

just my little $.02

It seems everyone wants to chime in on how its a "scam" but none of them have actually used it.

It's simple: people are cheap. In order not to be called cheap, you deflect blame and call it a scam. Problem solved.

Cleary, let's just assume that what you think is happening is really happening. That would mean that your chalk is causing less deflection of the cue, which in turn would put more squirt on the cb. I think it's pretty safe to say that is not happening. What is probably happening, is that you started to pay more attention to just where you are hitting the cb. That in turn made you more accurate with your results. Most amateurs do NOT hit the cb where they think they are hitting it. When they do start hitting it where they want to, amazing things start to happen!

So, I believe what happened was just that wanting to check out the chalks claims, you started actually paying attention to just where you hit the cb. And, by doing that, your game improved.

Personally, I am against that chalk. It leaves marks on the cb and ob, and gets on the table. The marks stay longer than with conventional chalk, and cause problems. As far as the price, there's nothing in there that would cause it to cost that much. They are trying to re-coup all their testing costs, which is fine, but once they do that, you won't see the price drop at all.

Neil, I'm not the type of guy that just dives in head first to some marketing and believes what I'm told. If something works like they say it does, then I'm sold... but its gotta work for me.

When I first bought I cube, I got it to give it a fair try. The only claim I knew of was the 'non miscue' thing. After using it, I really started to feel like my accuracy was improving. After a while, I started asking what was going on when I was shown this: (see attached photo)

I didn't know this was part of their marketing until after I started using it. All I can say, for me, its 100$ true. I don't get a penny from Kamui and pay full price for everything. I'm not trying to talk anyone into it, I was skeptical until I gave it a fair try.

Here is the attached photo. Like I said, I don't exactly understand the science involved but I can tell you it works.

i have not paid for a cube. i have friend who was generous enough to share and let me use his a few times when we played.
scam? i'd say no. it works well and is very thick so it coats well and you use less. but i am not even close to saying it does something magical to my stroke that i get more spin and shoot straighter. i use blue diamond on a regular basis and the only reason i pay the money for that over the masters i used to use is that coats better and i use less. therefore, the cost is averaged out.
i think maybe you're getting a bit of placebo effect from using it. maybe you hit a few good shots when you got it and your confidence went up and now you are going with it subconciously. and there is nothing wrong with that. if you feel more confident and are playing better than i say you spend how much you want on what you want and don't even sweat what others say.

Neil your spot on target!

As far as deflection goes he could also be hitting more to the center of the CB and maybe by design of the chalk imparting the desired spin, thus reducing CB squirt

I know you're pretty deep out there on Long Island but if you come to Stienway in queens tonight and I'll give you (FOR FREE) a half used cube. They have the weekly tournament out there tonight, so you can play in that and recoup any loses from the drive. There is also PLENTY of action. Just throwing it out there.
