I wrote and gave the name to the original set of Texas Express rules. Over the years, John McChesney and Randy Goettlicher and myself , along with the help of many others, fine tuned, changed the english, and came up with the current rules.
 
Yes you did, big guy! I always loved your monitor, "Texas Express". Those rules and the Texas Express Group changed the way 9-Ball was played (for the good I might add) forever. We spent many a day re-writing those original rules....SPF=randyg (1/3 of Texas Express)

Who knew I would get the authors to answer my question. That is the best of the best in my book. I want to be sure of the rules before I use them in tournaments. So, if I don't want a foul for a shirt touching a ball or dropping the chalk on an object ball, I can strike it for that tourney? I am sure the QB is always live, though and a foul if touched, other than the act of stroking your shot. Is that right?

In a Nutshell.......we played fouls on the cue ball only. If an object ball was moved, and had no effect on the outcome of the shot, the opponent has the option of moving it back or leaving it in position. Later we added the multiple ball rule....which says if more than one ball is moved, it will be a foul..to save having to restore multiple ball positions.
 
My favorite TX rule is: "When you going over or around an impeding ball and that ball moves.....FOUL.

As TD's we did ourselves a favore there......SPF=randyg
