Well, I am uncertain who made this cue. The cue is unlike any Rich cue I have ever seen, the cue butt cap is like the first line of McDermotts, however there is no weight bolt. The cues bumper is held on by a screw directly into wood. The cues joint is Aluminum and the joint screw is brass, which also screws into a Brass piloted insert. The cues butt section is made from a older form of Brown plastic with swirls.

UPDATE: The cue has a 5 1/6-18 pin not a 5 1/6-14 hope this helps!!!!!

If anyone has any idea's or can identify the cues maker please post your information.

looks like a Gandy

Made by Viking for Gandy billiards.
But man the way the ferrel is done it almost looks like a early 60's cue. Nice one too. But the forearm and pin with aluminium joint rings scream Gandy.
I am wrong alot!:D

Craig,

There's a guy on Ebay the goes by mikewalsh. He was an old buddy of Doc Fry and Abe Rich and can usually ID their work pretty well. I think he's even got a cue with a similiar butt on auction right now.

I had a cue that I was sure was a Doc Fry a while back. It had Doc's trademark glitter rings and all the usual Doc Fry attributes. I asked Mike and he said that Abe and Doc were friends and that my cue had been made out of rings that Abe had got from Doc, but was a Rich. I later found out the cue had been stolen from a friend of mine! I started to tell him about the cue one night on the phone and he had actually had the cue stolen several years earlier and could describe it to the tee. He confirmed that it was a Rich, glitter rings and all, so Mike has a good eye.

Good luck, it's a nice old cue...

Regards,

Steve

Craig,

Did you ever found out who made this cue?
I've seen every component of this cue in Abe's shop, although I can't remember seeing a shaft with a metal ring like that at the moment.
I know he used white fiber for ferrules and also had some black.
However, Abe was big on the "unbreakable delrin" and used both white and black delrin. Most of the buttcaps were cut the same way and were held on with a screw into the wood.
The plastic with swirls was used in Abe's shop, too.
The joint looks like one of the Abe Rich joints, and the forearm looks like many of his, too.
