Please help with aiming system choices

It sounds like our conditions are pretty similar. Mine is spondeylosis where the neck vertebrae have actually fused together, but the outcome is the same.

Here's a video of my stroke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydYr6mKyVQM

As a result I have to do all my aiming before I get down on the ball. I tried a bunch of things but this one has worked the best for me:

One advantage is that you become very rigorous about your pre-shot routine and alignment when getting down on the ball.

We have the same thing A.S., how long can you play before getting sore or stiff?

I watched your video, We have the same problems, I really struggle with long shots, I just cent see them well due to the limitations in neck movement. Yourthe first person I have ran across that also has A.S., Any tips you can share would be greatly appreciated.

I had the opportunity to speak to Stan (or send messages) about DVD1 VS DVD2, and I am going to wait for DVD2 to come out. In the mean time I have watched and practiced CTE with the info provided on the videos on YouTube etc. The info is limited as it should be, but it has actually helped me A LOT! I still struggle with long shots, as the fellow posted before me, its hard to get my neck and head to an angle to see the long shot properly.
I have spent 45 minutes to 1 hour 4 times a week drilling with stans online videos and WOW, I see a huge imporvement, I cant wait to get DVD2, I have a close friend that I compete with about 4 times a week, usually first to 15 each time, we are competitive but I usually take the loss, I might slight him 1 of every 4 times playing. After the last week of practice watching the CTE videos (Stans or other peoples version) I won 15-3 on Saturday, 15-6 Monday, and 15-5 tonight.

Our stroke should finish down on the table - this is a bad drill for that reason. A proper stroke will always hit the bottle inside. The stroke isn't a straight linear motion.

Get a glass Coke bottle and stroke into it's mouth without touching the lip, slow then faster; short then deeper...like...

I have played several games with my friend, I have studied all the CTE that I can until the ned DVD comes out.... I have a serious issue with long shots, I dont know if its my arthritis or what but I struggle with a long shot where the ball is sitting almost in the pocket, its killing my game. I love the CTE because I dont even look at the pocket anymore, I am hitting shots just looking at the ball, but long shots UGH HELP

This will make a significant difference if results are required asap.

What type of practice/excercises do you suggest for developing a straight, repeatable stroke?

I've had a great deal of success using a sword. You hold and stroke it like a regular cue with the blade held straight up and down. Take 50 practice strokes feeling the feedback in your forearm/wrist/hand, then pick up a cue and play, then back to the sword for 50 more practice stokes.

This will make a significant difference when results are desired asap. 'The Game is the Teacher'

Gerry,

That depends on what stroke you're talking about.

I did not know that there was now just one stroke, 'the stroke'.

Many do not use a 'pendulum' stroke. Many play with a piston or a piston-J stroke.

I'm not looking to argue regarding which is better. I'm just clarifying that there is more than just one type of stroke.

True dat. My tip probably hits the table on draw shots but definitely not on every shot. Also, people say my stroke always looks the same but every different kind of shot feels alot different to me.

one side of the pocket?

Are you consistently missing the long shots on one side of the pocket?
