Please identify the material used on the buttplate of these cues.

I'm restoring a Brunswick 360 cue and want to add a black butt plate that's about 3/16" thick to the end of the cue. Like the cue shown on the left I plan on adding an insert under the plate to accept an Allen bolt mounted so the cue can be bumperless or not.

Does anybody know what material is used for the buttplate and where to obtain it?

My recommendation is to give this cue to a professional full-time cuemaker and restore the cue to original without any modifications in order to preserve a piece of history and the inherent value of the cue.

Delrin or Nylon seems to be about as close as you can get in modern materials to the black plastic that they used back then. All the fiber materials we used to get for pool cues are history now.

How are you planning on attaching that?
In order for an allen to fit and that thin part to HOLD, I think you will need a rod to thread onto the bottom with that black dash exposed.
Then you can tap it for an allen.
Black phenolic rod might be your ticket.
