I recently posted a thread about using Pledge to polish shafts. I did a little research and discovered (by calling Pledge) that the product contains water. They couldn't tell me how much water was in the product, just that it has water. Just wanted to let you guys know in case it mattered.

The important thing

is that Pledge is a wood polish, and a wood polish is the only thing that should be used to slick your shaft after it is cleaned.

I hav had success with lighter fluid. Not a "wood polish"

I use Pledge every 12-18 mos on shaft. No probs, smells so-nice.

Water content isn't an issue- a wet papertowel contains water too...

Yeah, I agree with all. I don't think the water content is very much if it's recommended on all wood surfaces. I'll continue to use on my less expensive shafts. I don't see a problem if the shaft is sealed by the factory/builder. Doesn't seem like a tiny bit of water (in Pledge), which is usually wiped off after application, would make much of a difference. Sure does make it slick.
