I have a customer whose jump break cue has a uniloc joint and it got stuck together, when he unscrewed it the insert came out of the shaft no big deal but He wants me to install a radial pin if possible so my question is it safe to plug and tap a shaft that will be used for breaking and jumping or should I just repair the uniloc.

IMO, the Radial is the better, stronger, choice anyway.

I agree its better I was more concerned with plugging and re taping a shaft that will be used for breaks and jump shots will the plug be as strong a original or just re epoxy insert be safer. Thanks

The installation of an epoxied phenolic plug will only make the joint stronger IMO.

Very good advise as always KJ, that is exactly what I was going to say. I have been doing this for a number of years with no problem at.

Take care

I used a few uni's years ago and didn't like their weakness... I use the radial pin with phenolic insert on all my jump breaks ... Recess radial to only 4 threads , very strong joint that plays well ...
