points are just one piece of wood.
PLain points are just one piece of wood. Veneered points have one piece of wood and then one or more thinner pieces of wood, usually dyed to various colors or of different types of wood that are glued onto the main piece of wood. They can be either spliced into the wood or just layed in after a uniform depth is cut out. Most cue enthusiasts prefer spliced points with veneers. This means that a 45 degree router bit is used at an angle on the forearm or butt to cut a V groove and then a point that either has veneers glued to it or not is layed on its' side into the V groove and glued into place. Then it is turned down flush with the forearem.
