So you are looking for a table mounted polisher, not a polisher for tables? .. lol,
I have a threaded spindle with a 3 step pulley from grizzly, so I can slow the speed down, or speed it up, slow for cues, fast for metals, like a SS joint collar. You want about 1400rpm max for cue finishing, IMO. any faster and it can burn thru the finish if you leave it for a split second too long. Mine runs around 1300, based on a tach unit I use.

I used to use a 3/4" all thread, 30" long with 2 sets of 4 dommett pads so that I can load 2 different grits of rubbing compound. I put this in my 36" variable speed lathe and would run it at the appropriate speed.

Since that time, I purchased a cheap, variable speed, 13" car polisher from Horrible Fright for 30.00. I liked the results so much, and being a H/F electric tool which everyone knows isn't known for their quality, I went back and bought a second one for a back-up. That was about 6 years ago and the back-up ones box has never been opened.

I mount the cue in the lathe and have it revolve around 60 rpm and use the very outer part of the wheel for polishing so that it polishes more with the grain than against it.
