How do you clean/polish your pool balls for home use?

Since I embarked on building my Gold Crown Ball Polisher, it got me wondering how fellow AZB'ers who have a table at home clean their pool balls and what was the determining factor in their chosen method.

Bucket polisher. For economy. No reason to spend $500 or more to clean my balls. If I owned a pool hall, then I would see the necessity of a commercial ball cleaner.

If the balls rubbing together cause wear, it still wouldn't wear them fast enough to justify the $600. I'll never wear out three sets of Aramith Premiers in 20 years. Not on a home table.

I helped a friend build a bucket polisher. He already had a orbital buffer and the rest of the stuff cost lest than 20bux. Got scrap carpet for free at Homeless Depot. Took about 15-20min to assemble. Works fine. Its noisy but not too bad if you put it on carpeted floor or some sort of pad. They do work better with micro-fiber bonnets which are cheap on Amazon. For home use they work perfect.

Have a BallStar..works great... Also have the 8ball Diamond. At first I cleaned by hand and bailed out of that immediately...after that used a car buffer with the balls on a ball tray with a cloth bonnet wrapped around the tray. I commend anyone that makes their own cleaner ( from a bucket to advanced woodworking).

Apparently ...
Or you don't fancy playing with clean balls each session, which is fine. Balls do get dirty after each session from handling them with your hands, chalk on the table and pocket marks. There's nothing wrong with cleaning by hand but an automated machine gives the ability to clean more often with no effort in less time.

I have had my Clean Gleem 16 for a couple of months now and I really enjoy it. I change to a different set of my 15 or so different sets at least weekly just to keep it fun and interesting. I toss the exiting set in the CG for about 3 minutes before putting them away. The set on the table is always clean and plays consistently. I also toss 2 or 3 used cue balls in every couple days and that way I always have a clean, responsive fresh cue ball on the table for every session.

Just curious, do you ever go play in a bar/poolroom? Reason i ask is you might want to let the balls get a little more dirty from time-to-time. Get used to 'real world' conditions. If you go play in a tourn. somewhere i guarantee you won't see conditions like what one may have at home. FIFTEEN sets of balls?? Really. Wow.
