Hi guys,

I'll be working on a project for the next 9 months about 45 minutes SW of Chicago. Can anyone suggest a good place for tourneys or light action anywhere near Plainfield or Joliet, IL?

How about any rooms that I just have to check out around the Chicago area?

Thanks,

Rod

I believe there is a nice Friday nite tourney at Bada Brew where you can meet the locals and get all the intel you desire.

Also you can check with azb members dogginda9 and richm.

Q Billiards in Darien, Protyme in Alsip....both nice pool rooms. Both about 20-30 mins from Joliet.

In Joliet, you have the Friday night 8 ball tourney at Bada Brew that was already mentioned. Lotsa folks say it's the best competition you'll get for 5 bucks anywhere.

3rd Base in Rockdale has 4 Diamond barboxes they'll let you open for 5 bucks an hour.

Bedrocks in Shorewood has 8 Diamonds.

Tro has a 9 foot GC3 in his basement and I hear he only charges 40 bucks an hour + 1 cube of preflag to play on it. He has complimentary tap water at his establishment.

Pool hall in Joliet would be perfect, there a lot of central IL. players that would to make the drive for a great Saturday tourney!!

At some point, you will certainly run into dogginda9. Good guy. He is a Rolodex of info on whats happening not just in Joliet, but pretty much the entire north half of Illinois.

Starting to wonder though, how many folks still know what a Rolodex is. lol

dogginda9 is your best bet for all things pool in the Joliet area. I grew up there and most of the pool rooms have closed down from what I understand but I haven't been back there in a couple of years. The suggestions that were listed by Tro are your best bet while you are there. Don't forget about Red Shoes in Alsip or Pockets in Crestwood.

Action

Too bad Duane is all the way North because I am sure he would be your Huckleberry:D.

Hi Rod! Long time no see! Are you keeping your house in Atl? Hope you're doing well. Maybe we'll cross paths, as I'm in Chicago pretty frequently (my folks live there). Don't forget a trip to Chris's Billiards on Milwaukee...just to read the stuff on the walls! Red Shoes is definitely a players room!

Thanks for all the good feedback. I ended up stopping by Bada Brew tonight to shoot for a bit. It was nice to see Diamond close to where I stay during the week (off of I-55 and Plainfield Rd).

Unfortunately, I can't make the Friday tourney any time soon...I fly back and forth each week from Jax,FL to Chicago...but one of these weeks I'll stay over a weekend. I'll probably even ship one of my older cues via FedEx to keep up here.

I'll do my best to make it out to Red Shoes, Q Billiards, and Protyme, and any rooms that I hear of. Are there any tourneys during the week?

If any AZ'ers would like to meet up, let me know. I'll be free on many nights during the week.

Thanks,

Roderick

Hi Scott,

It has been a long time. I ended up moving to Jacksonville from Atlanta about 3.5 years ago. It'd be nice to run into you up here sometime, even if it's to just learn more about Chicago. I still haven't had a chance to make a trip to the city yet, but I plan to catch a White Sox game and get some deep dish pizza in the next couple weeks.

Q billiards used to have an 8 ball tourney on Monday nights at 8pm. Race to 2 I think.

It's right up I-55...head north about 15 minutes to Cass Avenue, hang a left, it's about a mile up on your right hand side.

Red Shoes Billiards...April 28th, 2012. ONE POCKET $50 entry fee...$500 added (full field), double elimination. Sign-up: 12:00 (noon) Saturday. CALL:708-388-3700
