Pool Ball Collecting.

Good afternoon, gentlemen. :)

Another great set there, K2K, and I share your sentiments regards having a peek at Franko's intriguing hoard, it sounds something a bit special. Welcome to the thread, sir, very pleased indeed to hear you've enjoyed the contributions thus far.

Here's a couple more billiard ball sets from my own humble collection.

Let's see some other angles on those Guinness balls, Rubik's!

2.25" you say?

British ebay, huh.

If you see anything interesting pop up there, I'd appreciate a quick PM or email - never know what I can snag across the big lake

Hi, K2K. I hope you are well, sir. :)

Don't worry, my friend, I scour British and American eBay religiously once a week for unusual billiard ball sets and you will certainly be the first to know about anything interesting.

I notice those Skinner (or was it Skinnie?) magazine balls keep getting reduced in price on eBay.com. $540 down to $440 down to $340 the last time I looked. Still too much for my budget at the moment, but one never knows!

Best wishes and sincere thanks for keeping the thread alive!
RC.

Those are beautiful pearlescent balls, Rubik's - who manufactures those since you mentioned they are similar to the Vigma offering?

Speaking of photography skills, is that a pool table light reflection I'm seeing in the ball surface? You've been caught shooting pics on the pub table, sir :-)

While you're loafing at the pub, how about shooting a few more pics of the fine Guinness spheres, my friend

Good seeing you back on the forum!

K.

Hi, K2K.

I wish it was the reflection of a pool table light, Mr K. The sad truth is, alas, it's just a small attic window. I promise to take some more (bad) photographs of the Guinness balls next time I'm up there, sir.

Those rather fetching pearlescent balls are retailed by a British company called Geordie Pool. No idea of the original manufacturer, I'm afraid, but we both know they were almost certainly born somewhere in China.

Best wishes,
RC.

Start pointing Rubik's!

Let's get some of these on the way - send your set through me if you need to and we'll make something happen. We can't let a little pond of water get in the way of ball exploration!

Now that you mentioned balls AGAIN, Rubik's, I have a few sets that seem destined for obscurity unless some crazy collector / player comes along and saves them from the back of a closet or trash bin somewhere. Well, I happen to know just a fellow......

These doozies aren't sitting in the back of the display case any more though - front and center stage on the baize waiting patiently for a crazy soul to proffer a challenge of an Irishman passerby - or anyone really - that has the courage to scatter these Vigma's and play some "Lucky A-Hole".........which is really just an old fashioned game of 8 Ball for those not yet under the influence of our good pal Pappy Van Winkle and his Kentucky Bourbon.

The Vigma Irish, my friends.

No one else would buy them

K.

They actually look much better casually rolling around the table than they do sitting on a lowly ball tray. But hey, don't take my word for it - come by for a friendly game of A-Hole

Question for you ball guys. Sorry no pics right this second but will when I can. So, I was going thru some storage looking for something and I ran across a set of balls that I've had since a kid that I had forgotten about. They are numbered like regular pool balls but are small, maybe about the size of snooker balls if not a tiny bit smaller. They kinda look and feel rubbery but are not because when you bang it against something they sound of solid material. Some have a Crack around the circumference but I believe them to be one piece, not two piece molded together. Any ideas ? BTW, they would have to be at least 20-30 yo.

Without pics I'd be be playing a ball charades game I think Could be so many things. Are they just "balls" that are numbered and not pool related? Or definitely pool balls? There are pool balls in every 1/2" size from 1.0" on up. Grab that phone camera and share a pic or two

Yeah I know sorry. They are not near me and I didn't have anything with me to take a pic. Yes, they Def are pool balls with correct colors with numbers. My initial thought was maybe they were really old and heavily used and worn down. But then I thought it seemed unlikely to be worn down that much??? I am confident they are not from one of those small tables as they are much larger than what they use. If I can swing it I'll try to get pics sometime this week, thanks.

Maybe they are pool balls intended to be used on a snooker table? Just a guess?

Good afternoon, gentlemen. :)

Here's a link to those Emoji Billiard Balls, as promised.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Emoji-Sn...129952?hash=item2ef2085ce0:g:fV0AAOSwqfNXkZGd

One word of caution, however, before purchase: I am reasonably sure that these balls are handpainted which means, although making every set unique and a work of art, they are possibly not well suited to withstanding the rigours of actual matchplay..

Good find, Rubik's!

I'll fire off an email and get some more information on these, unless you've already done so and are holding out

Thanks for the link!

K.
