Pool Ball Collecting.

Another excellent acquisition, Mr R. :)

Thank you for sharing the pictures, sir. Can you tell us a little more about how you display your growing collection, dear fellow?

Best wishes,
RC.

Thank you, sir.

Unfortunately, my collection is not displayed due to lack of space. They are boxed and one a shelf in my climate controlled pool room/garage.

That looks like a wonderful pool room, Mr R. I’m very envious, sir. :)

Plans are in the pipeline to create some pool ball themed artwork in the near future, featuring iconic sets from Raschig, Aramith, Hyatt etc. I hope to then make copies available inexpensively to my fellow collectors for their own walls.

Best wishes,
RC.

I like it!

This is just a prototype but I am working on a display concept. These are Ikea shelves/ledge that we had in the closet but are perfect length to display a 16 ball set, 36". I am looking for someone to custom make shelves very similar to these with wood that would match my table. I envision a wall dedicated to this display. Maybe 20 or 30 shelves.

Thoughts or ideas?

Of course I would have to have a couple longer shelves to display the Baseballs and K2K's 25 ball NFL Football sets.

Billiard Ball Shelves.

Excellent, Mr B. :)

Have you seen these, sir? They’re available in four different woods.

@Rubik's: If I stumble across empty boxes, I'll pick them up for you. I can ask in some of the clubs I go to but I doubt that they have any boxes - I imagine they throw them away before they store the balls in those plastic trays. And they don't buy new sets all that often ...

Oh, BTW, would those boxes have to be in pristine condition as well?

A question to you knowledgable people here: In the German pool forum people are already looking for second hand Predator pool balls. AFAIK those will released by the end of the year, correct? Or did I miss an earlier set of Predator balls (even in this thread) since the new ones are named Arcos II?

(Not being such a huge Predator fan I might easily have missed those)

BTW, really nice displays and a great garage pool room. Wish I had the space for a 9-footer.

Hello, Mr M. :)

Thank you, sir. Pristine empty boxes would be ideal, of course, but anything in great condition would also be most welcome indeed.

Regards the Predator Balls: Rexus is your man for all things concerning those, dear chap. I’m sure he will offer his insights when he next looks in to our thread.

Best wishes,
RC.

Happy to oblige.

Predator Arcos Pool balls were made by Cosmos out of South Korea. The balls featured in the shelving pics are Cosmos as evidenced by their unique 4 dart design. Arocs balls were not marketed or sold. I have a set of the prototypes (pictured below) of which only a handful were made. I do know Oscar Dominguez, pro player and room owner (Hard Times Billiards Sacramento) uses Arocs balls exclusively in his room. I'm not exactly sure how many sets they have but suffice to say, it is several at the least. Being a Predator sponsored player he has access to many things Predator most folks do not. I would assume those looking to buy used Arcos sets are referring to the Cyclop made Arcos II which made their debut in the Diamond 9 Ball tournamet last week in Las Vegas and are currently being used for the Predator World 10 Ball Championship currently being held in Las Vegas. Both tournaments also featured Diamond tables covered in Predator cloth.

Hope this helps. I also included pics of other Cosmos sets for reference.

Thank you Rexus31. I wondered about that original Arcos set when someone asked to buy Arcos balls - I am sure he meant the V. 2, though. It can be a little silly how people chase down stuff by Predator before it's even released.

It's funny though because the balls aren't even "by Predator" they are Cyclop. I can't wait to see how many Cyclop hating Predator lovers will claim the Arcos II are the best balls they've ever played with. I also wonder how long it will take Cyclop to issue a set using the same design minus the Predator logo.

Beautifully done with great pics, Rexus31 - a superb contribution to the PBC thread, sir! Can’t wait to see and play the ball sets in person one day soon. And get a set added to The Collection of course

From one fellow ball fanatic to another here in the PBC thread, I think it’s reasonable to say that we (all) are always on the lookout for something special. Unique.

We have trained eyes.

The image of a man with furrowed brow and squinty eyes up in the crows nest with eyes locked on the horizon like some pirate on a phenolic hunt come to mind...

.....and what should appear on the horizon but a set of doozies that checks the unique box with ease:

This set is called (appropriately) Stars & Stripes. Made my Vigma for a company named Solid Citizen and distributed out of Redmond, WA a few years back - and no longer in business that I can find.

They also came out with another set called Stars & Stripes COLOR that I showcased back in the early years of the PBC thread - March, 2016 - post #40.

Here they are once again but freshly photographed a few minutes ago to compare sets under exact conditions and photo board:

These two unique sets made by Vigma using their Kobo resins may not be of the high-polish and hardened phenolics we see currently from the top two manufacturers, but these are still miniature marvels of production. Very little (if any) color blending. Sharp stars and near flawless lines on both sets. Weight variances are near-perfect! They play very well and look absolutely incredible rolling for any game upon the table - especially when paired with a perfect weight-matched Aramith Tournament cue ball. Minimal scuff or impact marks. Easy cleanup and polish.

Perhaps I can snap a photo of both sets in play spread out upon the table to show how truly unique these Stars & Stripes really are.

Very nice Mr. K. I have the first set. I need to add the second set of Stars and Stripes to my search list. Below are a few of my recent purchases:

Amarith Casino. My first set of this kind with solid colors. These are great.
Amarith Casino.jpg
EZRs. I don't need my readers for these.
EZR.jpg
USA. I kinda like 'em.

Sterling Criss Cross. I've been looking for these.

Vigma Vortex. Nice, unique addition.

What great additions, bfriesth!

Love the Casino set. Easily a Top 10. Easiest way to play and introduce 8-ball play and patterns to better anyone’s game.

EZRs are EZ and sweet

Great job finding the Sterling CC - that all-crossed set is the rarest. They look perfect.

The Vigma Vortex are favorites around my place for 10 ball for some reason

As for your classic Aramith Poker set - why of course someone can show you a FEW great ways to play those.....Especially a unique “Royals” game I came up with for a good friend. Here is the pre-game setup:

Great pics too, b! The transformation from your first few posts is like night and day

Thanks for the inspiring contributions, sir!
