Pool Ball Collecting.

I'm looking for some information gentlemen and ladies if there are any with the ball collecting affliction. Back in post #2781 I asked about some early Aramith Premier's that had skinnier stripes and open 4's. What I have that is in the same era I believe is possibly a set of early Aramith centennials. They have the same skinny stripes and open 4's and very small rounded darts.
I've also have seen these called "circlene's" . I've seen them on a collectors web site as Aramith centennials but he doesn't have the premier's. I'll have to try and do some further searching on the matter but hope someone else is familiar with them.
Thanks for any info.

Hello, Mulambo.

I believe you might be referring to the Aramith Hybrid set of 1996, dear chap. To the best of my knowledge this was the first time the distinctive chequered design was seen on a pool ball.

It’s a special set. There is a gentleman on Facebook who has been trying to persuade me to part with it, but I have given my word not to sell. His latest bid was £1,500.

Hello, HKC.

Other than to admire your beautiful sets, sir, I cannot offer anything much you do not already know unfortunately.

The straight underscores clearly indicate an earlier vintage and open 4s do perhaps suggest one of the European manufacturers. Boxcar would be the gentleman to put us right on that score but, alas, does not frequent AZB anymore.

Would you like to join a private Facebook group of which Boxcar is a member? Just say the word and I will send you an invite.

Hello, Wolverine.

I haven’t forgotten your request for a top ten ranking, sir.

To be frank, dear chap, I have failed. I just found it too difficult to winnow down to so few sets. I tried, but every time found it impossible to leave out certain examples.

Thank you Rubik for the offer, I may take a rain check if I finally break down and create a FB account. I've held out so long but realize I am missing out a bit. I will let you know when the time arrives.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen.

One could probably start a whole new thread about wildly optimistic BUY IT NOW prices on eBay. I’ve seen a few beauties in my time but this one is right up there with the best of them.

I've always wondered if listings like that were drug deals or playoffs of some sort.

Thanks for sharing! Thats the set I meant. I guess I must have seen it in here some time ago, but it would be tedious to dig through 150 pages 🙃

I wonder how many other prototypes have been made over the years, which never saw the day of light...
