Pool Ball Collecting.

It will be interesting to hear the gentleman’s response, HKC. I hope you’re able to buy the box, sir.

It would be nice to see more than just one ball of the red box, too. Considering the seller is asking strong money, it’s perhaps rather remiss of him not to show clear images of the full set.
 
Update.

The seller has now added photographs of the balls in the red Dekorit box. Unlike the balls in blue box, these certainly look genuine to me.
 
I was extremely fortunate to buy twenty Raschig sets about ten years ago. They had been languishing in a disused jukebox warehouse in Mainz, Germany, owned by a distributor who also supplied billiard equipment to the trade.

It was a mixture of R9 and R15 sets. None of them had dotted cueballs. My guess would be that the dot came later or perhaps only featured on export sets, but that is purely speculation.

I have never seen balls in a foam box like that. These are 46mm Snooker balls. Is it possible, to find the manufacturer just by the boxing style and maybe the colours used for the balls? The saturated yellow and dark blue, seem to be not that common, i hope 🙃

Any help and information is highly appreciated!

I've come across some old Aramith balls in a foam box but not sure if it was original.

I was able to acquire the box, he said a couple people told him they were not Raschig balls. I wouldn't be surprised if he lists them as a mixed set now.

I also told him the red box set looked real but the price was a bit high. He said offers could be made and he would consider them.
 
Fantastic news on the box acquisition, HKC. Congratulations, sir!

I sent eighteen of those beautiful Raschig sets over to my pal, Kerry, in Texas back in 2017. We reproduced the booklets and also printed an English translation, then sold the sets to folks here on AZB.
 
By the way, the highest price I have seen a Raschig R15 sell was $560 plus shipping. That was a few months ago on eBay.

$750 is thus very, very high to be sure and would be a new record, but to be fair to this recent seller his set in the red box is as good as anything I have seen before so it should at least be worth the same $560 one would imagine.

In his shoes I would list it in a standard auction at a low start and let the collector community decide its market value. That often gets the seller a higher price as interested buyers battle it out.

He also sounded like he was going to be listing some pretty nice cues. If any of you are cue collectors, he mentioned the name Rambow 🙄

$550 was fair for that set. If anyone wants my player's set (w/o box & original cue ball), let me know before I put it on eBay. I was thinking $250 shipped CONUS, plus fees, based on the condition being just good, with some small chips and discoloration on a ball.

Yep, he might have got a little bit more in a straight auction battle, but $550 is not too shabby. Good luck to the fellow. 👍

I’m not a cue collector, but know that Rambows are right up there in terms of prestige and desirability. I bet Benelli will be keeping a keen eye on them!
