Pool Ball Collecting.

The line is curved, and the box is from Amarith

There mid-80's Aramith made balls. Looks like they they spent some time in a garage or a storage unit exposed to heat and humidity.

Hit them hard with Aramith restorer and Speed shine and a ton of elbow grease and they will clean up nicely. But where you have yellowing in the deeper chips it's going to be really hard to get rid of those marks so don't expect too.

Play with.them hard, and retire them in a year or so when your ready to get a new set or find a better used one.

Mid 80's would have the blue and white box. I bought a set in '94/'95 that came in the blue/white Brunswick box that were Aramith made.. I'd peg these as late 90's.

I'm not sure the balls and the box go together, would not be surprised if someone bought a new set and put there old ones in the box.

I see this all the time.

The single biggest truth to Pool Ball Collecting is...

What's in the box, is not what came in the box...

So far I thought it is: be happy if it comes in a box 🙃😄

I knew one would surface eventually.

It’s nice to even have a photograph.

Before today I had only ever seen a crappy diagram. I was beginning to think none had survived.

I have a memory of seeing some low resolution pictures of this light up board on a stage. Players in bow ties and waistcoat playing on a table with blue cloth. Couple of babes in skimpy dresses pressing the buttons on either side of the scoreboard. Maybe from some promotional event for this game. Thinking about it now, one of the players could have either been Jim Rempe or Cliff Thorburn. Of course this could all be a figment of my imagination.

So I don't do much in the way of Snooker balls. Usually. I saw this set and they look so nice that I bought them. Description was vague and manufacturer unknown. So I was hoping to get some input on who they might be from. To my surprise they are actually 2 and 1/4 inch or 2.236" or roughly 56.5 mm.
The weights are extremely close. Five of the reds are 162.9g, six of them.are 163g and all of them are only .5g different. The cue is a different story. It weighs a whopping 189.4 g so it makes me wonder if It is original to the set or not. Curious if that is normal to have the cue weighted heavy over the reds.
Anyway, any input or experience given would be appreciated. Thank you all and I hope everybody's having a good start to the summer.

That’s a beautiful set of reds, HKC.

Hyatt’s salesmen used that attaché style ball case, so Albany would certainly be my best guess on the origin of your set, dear chap.

Thank you sir, that might be great info. It would also make some sense being 2-1/4" balls.
I will continue to investigate.
I wonder if someone has some Hyatt colors to see what might have gone along with the reds.

Another set today!

Not sure about these. Might be Aramith, from one of these Blackball boxes where you can choose which 2 colours you want inside?! 🤔

I collect them for different games, and have a list of a few hundred rules so far. Of course you can always replace them with normal balls, like from an American Pool set. But it is way nicer - and sometimes easier when playing - if the balls look nearly like they are intended to look like. And sometimes having them in the correct size changes game play very much.

The older set I only buy, when the price is really good. I think everyone collects for a different reason. I would never collect different ball sets which are nearly the same, like different ball sets from 1-15 balls. Although I have 5-6 different sets of those just for playing.
