Pool care packages for the soldiers in Iraq

Hey everyone,

Freddie B. gave me a good idea when I was arranging to buy GosPool from him. He suggested sending a few extras to pass out to the soldiers. I am paying for my own.

If anyone is interested in perhaps sending some educational material such as "Byrne's Standard Guide to Pool and Billiards" (Recommended for the level of players here), or some ball cleaner/wax, as the tables are outdoors and never get cleaned, I can make sure it gets to the soldiers.

I have considered retipping their sticks also, but never done it before. Don't know what kind of glue/tools are needed. The MWR people are not maintaining the sticks/tables/balls well here. But at least they are holding two tourneys per month.

Let me be clear: None of this is for me. I have a Schon cue with everything I need, as far as chalk, hand towel, tip tool, etc.

Looking more for educational stuff meant to give a beginning player a solid foundation. I started with the hardback version of Byrne's book, and it is responsible for what heights I have attained in the game.

There are 4-7 decent military players around here who I think could become active players with the right educational material.

PM me if anyone is interested. I will also pass anything non-billiards related to the soldiers. Lots of people send chips and salsa! :D

Thanks,

Russ
