Hi, haven't been too active here lately, ahem :o
Well, I'm travelling to Singapore in late July and was wondering if there are any really nice pool clubs worth checking out? I'm going to be there for 4-5 days and looking to shoot maybe a couple of racks and check out the local pool scene. I'm travelling with my wife and as it happens, we're on our honeymoon, so I'm not looking for matching up with anyone for half a day for a few jellybeans  But my wife already promised to join me if there is a nice place to check out without thinking of divorce right away (woohoo!).

Wow, that's a lot of pool clubs, thanks for the list! We're going to stay at Orchard Str so I guess we'll check out the ones that are in nearby on Middle Road. Probably those Pool Fusions and the Pool Junction are worth checking out.
Many thanks. :)

Hi mjantti, I'm also in town and looking for a nice place and a game. I'm here until wednesday, would you like to meetup tomorrow, maybe in the afternoon? If not, happy honeymoon!

Cheers
Patrick

Bad timing...if i were in Singapore i'd be able to shoot some pool with ya. I'm mostly free when i'm in town.
There really isn't a big pool scene in Singapore, so walking into a hall hoping to catch a random game really isn't going to take place. It's more like walking in getting a table and paying at the end of it. Nobody walks up to ya for a game, rather it rarely happens.
Nonetheless i hope you enjoy sunny Singapore...dam i miss home!

Hi Jive, what a pity... Which places would you recommend, good tables, air conditioning, central?

All pool halls in Singapore are air conditioned, and in Singapore it's against the law to smoke indoors including clubs and bars so air quality and comfort wise they should all be pretty ok.
However i haven't played much in Singapore so i can't advise where is good. You might wanna contact users like poolnoob, cyberrot or torqiet and seek their advice.

Pool Fusion isn't too bad. There are two almost next to each other near Bugis ... mostly kids playing there and it's fairly high rate for table but on afternoons on week days and weekend, it's pretty quiet and the tables are OK. I had a visitor here and I found one tight pocket table there and we had a couple of nights of 1 pocket sessions ... each day was around $100 SGD but we played 5 - 6 hours.

Probably best equipment is found at Klassic Billiards where the national team practice ... it shares the location with http://www.cuesports.org.sg/index.php/contact. Very short taxi ride from Orchard.

Sometimes they are busy though (tournaments, group lessons) and it's got maybe 10 pool tables to rent out. it's got around 10 snooker tables as well but those are busy all the time. Rick Chew, the manager, is a nice guy. The girl who works behind the counter doesn't speak a word of English. This is where I play in Singapore.
