Dennis Swift built a very good Case, Real Leather, Toghht as Nails, had many options, and last it was Heavy. Dennis stops building Case long ago, any one have one IMHO should bother consider parting with it.

I have a JB case
It fell more than any case I had in the last 20 years as if it not ment to be used vertically… or maybe it’s just the price we pay for light cases…
I have an Instroke that fell a few times, cues didn’t flew out of it.
I’m not bashing JB cases, I think they are good cases but I think that his interior design is over protective to a point it might damage the cues.
I wouldn’t use it for a very high end cues and on the other side it too much for a cheap player’s set.

somebody should do a jb case time capsule to settle this once and for all.
jam a bunch of different cases full of old cues. Old shafts that still havent warped after years.
roll em all, check the wobble, film it, seal em shut for a year.
open er up and recheck the wobbles on film.
it honestly seems like the kind of test mister barton might do himself.
i’d bet theres no change. but i could be wrong.

I 100% agree with you on them being over protective as I discussed in this thread years ago.
So yesterday, a bungee cord gave up on me, and my cue case took a tumble off the luggage rack of my Harley at 60-65 mph.
The only casualties (aside from my heart rate & blood pressure) were one corner and part of the zipper on the small, top outside pocket. It’s a bit scuffed, but still functionally perfect. My cues were completely unharmed.
Disclaimer: I am I no way affiliated with, sponsored by, etc etc JB Cases. I paid full price for the damned thing from Seybert’s. Just sharing a fun (?!) anecdote about what I consider to be a quality product.

That's one of the most annoying sounds in the world.
I don't think or claim that once inside the case, the cues are not protected, problem is when getting them in and out of the case, you might chip the finish as they bump into each other from the tightness and the pressure.
I have a Schon LTD that the engraved logo was coloroed in white and the color faded away since I used the JB to carry it. the friction of getting it in and out must have took the color off, what will it do to a cue finish over time?
I've also had cues damaged while stored for many years in a case that was a previous endeavor of JB, the dye of the dividers was passed on to the cues. it was not a JB case but a case he engineered and designed for Sterling using the same interior he used in his GTF cases (before JB).
I know that the interior today is not the same, it was changed and improve, but was it tested for the above issue? I don't know. warranty won't help much if a one of a kind cue might get damaged in storage. I have a vinyl Instroke that stored cues for the same duration, both were kept at the same place and no issues.

For extreme conditions, extreme protection is needed. I don't ride bikes, I don't jump of planes, I don't rattle my case while its upside down with the lid open, so I don't need extreme protection, the average player doesn't either. I wish that JB would offer different types of interiors to choose from because other then that his cases are great and he does offer lot's of customization just not for the interior.
But where do you put the extension and chalk?
