i finally have a pool table at home and have been playing for hours and hours ever since, and its time for a new cue. the walls are little close to the table on the short side which demands a shorter cue, which i have. I want to buy a nice quality cue is there anyway to get a nice 52 incher if so is there a down side to it? or should i just get a nice standard 58 and use a shitty shorty when im up against the rail by the corner pockets. i would like to think that i can just use a nice 52 inch cue all around and be fine !

There is no point in investing a lot in a short cue. If you want a new cue, get a real cue, and use your short cue when your space limitations require it.

Pooltcher is right...you don't want to use a short cue all the time, as it will negatively affect your stance and stroke. You can buy a 52" cue that is weighted correctly, but it's still only for short spaces around your table...or kids.

cue dilemma solved :)

thanks guys thats what i figured, i just needed to hear it from somewhere else. Ill end up getting a standard cue, any suggestions on brands that have served you right ?

for under 500 range (100-300)i suggest

Rat cues (forum member and Meuller recreational cuebuilder/ repair/refinish man)

Lucasi

McDermott

Joss

Huebler (if you can find one new or in good used condition....its what every Meucci ever wanted to be in life)

There are also many custom makers on here (myself included) that could build you a cue to your liking in the price range your looking for.

best wishes,

phildozer,

if you re able to spend the amount Greyghost shown up, you ll able to find something really good for you!
500 Dollars for a cue is much money and you ll get for sure a lot of cue for that money. For this amount you can buy easily a Custom Cue- or a well done manufactured-cue(series cues) like Schon, McDermott and Mezz.
From the manufacturers i highly recommend Schon, Mezz-for me still the kings of the manufactured series-cues. Here you ll get a ton of cue for a fair money amount.

Test some cues- and choose which gives you the most satisfying feedback:)
it s for you-you have to like it-nothing else!

take care and good luck,

ingo
