Pool Cue Glut?

I listed a few of my old pool cues in the for sale section of the forum and have received almost no responses on nice cues offered at almost give away prices and considerably less than I have in them.

I am not a collector or cue seller/trader but have accumulated several cues over the years either as my own players or to help someone out.

If I was a collector, now would seem to be the time to buy because there are dozens of listings of very nice cues daily that do not seem to move much.

Is the market that soft out there or is there too many sellers with too many cues and not enough buyers?

Crappy market

Collectors always want more cues...but in today's economy, can they afford them?

Players tend to search for a cue that delivers the right feel for them.
Then they tend to keep what they have.

So, I'd say crappy market because of the economy.

I'm not in the market, because I like the playing set I currently use.

This has been the case the last 5-6 years or so....it's just the most obvious it's been right now. The economy is a big part of the equation but there are other factors, as well.

My opinion the cue hording phenomena is over. Collectors are being savvy and picking up cues that are rare and/or highly collectable. And when the sell from their collection, they are doing so to acquire a bigger cue.

Depressed market=buyer's market....but the buyers need to have money.

I like your Jerry R, but I can't afford it.

I have a Predator to trade for a cue or case and am making my mind up very soon. I wish I could add to it to get something more "impressive", but I really can't, so I am looking for a straight up trade.

More people are interested in trading than buying. Since I am not a regular seller/buyer/trader I would probably get the worst of any trade I made. Jerry R cues look and play as well as anything out there and go unbelieveably cheap for what you get.

Good time to be a buyer, not a seller.

When the car market lost buyers what happened? Dealerships closed, sold off excessive inventory. Cash for clunkers..

Pool crashes, MORE people decide to make cues with less players and places to play. No one buying clunkers...

Not hard to figure.

Price correctly.

If a cue is priced correctly it will sell.
Remember the public determines the price. I am thinking of selling a 1984 McDermott D14 beautiful condition refinished by McDermott 2 shafts with JP and a 1x2 Gisep. Case. On the McDermott site the cue alone with 1 shaft
ball park $600. But in this Market I would need to let the Pkg. go for say around $500
IMO that is a good deal but who knows.

Too many sellers and too few buyers defines a soft market. Both questions are true, unfortunately for sellers. For buyers of playing cues, the choices and prices are excellent.
