Pool cue tips

Hello I play a lot of bar box pool..... iam getting ready to change all my tips on my cues..... I was woundering what I should change to....brand and softness...... I know its preference but just wanting feedback....... thanks for everyones time...... been hearing a lot about g2 and ultraskin tips......

I tried an ultraskin medium. I have some hitch in my stroke on draw shots when cue ball is close to the object ball and kept making the cue ball hop up....don;t have that problem with my other tips. good tip, but not one for me.

I have taken a liking to the Tiger emerald. Like it better than the kamui black, tiger everest. I also slapped a le pro on again (used to use those exclusively back in my first stint with pool) and liking those again
 
I recently switched from ultraskin mediums to G2 medium. I have nothing bad to say about ultraskins. they are excellent tips however the G2's might be the best tip ive ever come across
 
I have been using Kamui black SS on my cues and had no problems until the last one. Only had it on for about a month and I stated miscuing. Discovered it was glazing. It was getting to be a pain scuffing every 10 - 15 games. Ordered an Ultra Skin and had it installed today. Only shot a couple of racks but so far I really like it. Checkout the reviews!

What tips are on your cues now and why are you changing them?

G2 are great, i had ultraskin on of shaft I bought and it was miscueing like crazy- worst tip ever. Did not hold chalk at all. Maybe it was just a bad tip and I got unlucky

Do you play with a heavy cue ball or with an Aramith ball?

If you're playing on old Dynamos and Valleys with a mud ball, get a hard tip.
 
I hear people talking about tips being good or bad - How can you tell? I've used several different tips and I have no idea how they're different. I miscue sometimes with all of them, probably because I used a bad stroke. I can use english just fine with any of them, again, depending on how well I stroke it. I just don't know if some of these $30 tips are really worth it. Currently using a Tiger Everest because it came standard on my OB shaft.

Well, I can draw the ball just as far with an Elkmaster as I can with a Tiger Sniper (my current tip). However, the tiger hasn't mushroomed one bit. That's the difference between a good and bad tip; How much maintenance you want to put up with.

I can tell a huge difference, although I haven't tried any of the latest generation of fad tips (haven't played much in 6 years).

Worth it? Probably not... a Moori Medium ($25) (what's on most of my stuff, from before they had any quality issues) is not a huge amount better than a Le Pro ($0.50). It lasts a little longer, and mushrooms a little less.

But for me, mushrooming annoys me a ton, so the Moori's lasting longer saves me paying someone to put tips on.

I put a Kamui Black Hard on my Predator 5k8 when the original Everest had served it's time. I love it, but I break and play with this cue. Mostly bar boxes.

I think it all depends on how firm your stroke is, if you have a softer stroke perhaps you'd prefer a softer tip?
 
I will throw the Outsville Ki-techs in the ring with any of the tips mentioned... Each hardness is processed to play a specific way.. Not just pressed to a specific hardness and stamped S M or H.... The Ki-Techs are from Knoxville Tennessee and are not manufactured in Taiwan and stamped with someone's logo like sooo many of the tips on the market today...

We have 4 separate QC points to insure that bad tips have as close to a zero chance of getting out our door as possible....
