Pool fever. Got my first Gold Crown.

Katipunan:

Thanks for your reply. Wider pockets, shorter shelf...what's not to like about the old Madison? Thanks for enduring my sarcasm, but I only wish I were a good enough player to complain about such items. My game needs all the help it can get.

I have received some info from Diamond regarding their home version(s) of the Pro and yes, I might consider such an animal. I have, however, been encouraged to shy away from their "home" home tables such as the Oppenheimer and the Arkansas, at least in the nine foot models (which require six legs for support - and even Diamond suggested I move up to the home version of the Pro).

Pardon my stupidity, but as I indicated, I am new around here. When you folks refer to extending the subrails, do you mean those additional little shims I see attached to the edges of the pocket entrances? They are usually a contrasting color to the rest of the cushion, otherwise I might likely still be scratching my head. If I got this one partially correct, is there more to the physical changes to the rails and/or cushions? What are these small, semi-square patches made of and what is their width?

Reading this forum I have learned more about pool tables than I ever could have imagined. Appreciate your ability (as a rookie, you say) to bring that GC back to life the way you have - and your patience with my questions.

Sincerely,

MortalZin,

I am sure you have a lot of questions with the pros and cons of antique vs modern tables. However, I am not the subject matter expert on it all I can give you is my personal opinion, which is very limited. Like I said this is just a hobby. For all other questions, you just have to address the Table Mechanic Forum in general and ask your questions, so that the genuine table mechanics can lead you to the right direction.
