Pool, Get Out the Life Rafts !

Future of pool

I also think things are going to keep going.

Not real sure if a 'savior' is gonna show up - but pool will still be here.

And I also agree that the industry might have needed (needs) to get down to the bottom to start the rebuilding process.

It is a confusing time. . . . . .

I'm not really sure what to think of it. I've been out of it for 17 years, and getting back into it recently, I see a lot has changed.....Technology, a youth that's just a lot lazier, lack of venues for new potential players, and overall seems like just a lack of interest. It makes me a little sad inside.

Podcast is up on Youtube now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud8iGZRR7Lc&feature=youtu.be I will be reuploading a new version with the audio levels a little higher in a couple hours. Till then this one is watchable.

I am not responsible if you want to walk out into traffic after watching.

As always, I really enjoyed the Podcast. Thanks for continuing to do them.

I guess I'm not ready to walk into traffic just yet (at least regarding pool, heh heh) and I think that you guys might be on to something in that the whole thing probably needs to bottom out before it can rise again. Has pro pool bottomed out yet, perhaps so, perhaps not.

Hopefully someone will find this to be their opportunity, and can lead pro pool out of the gutter its been in.

Again, thanks Justin and Mark. You are appreciated.

I always read your posts with triple interest Mark. I too don't know if a savior will come soon, but I'd bet "someBady" tries.

The chatter behind the scenes, IMO, is off the charts. It's a scrum.

It's an interesting time of opportunity...

Support the Local Rooms.

The one thing I, as a frequent player, will maintain is supporting the pool rooms.

Having a great pool room is essential for a pool players well being. A little competition and some chance to see the best in the area compete in either a friendly match up or in a Monthly or Regional tournament.

Seeing pool played well is (IMO) a great way to get lessor skilled players more interested in playing better.

For US pro players to have an opportunity to make a decent, honorable living, it might take a sly Fox with ESP to help navigate their canoe while holding a huge paddle.

I can only speculate. I'd simply love to watch the best of the best compete on a fair playing ground and they not worry where their next meal or rent payment comes from.

I have to admit, I have no desire to watch pool on TV. I remember back in the mid 90's when I first got DirecTV, ESPN would show 9-ball tournaments regularly.....and I never missed them. Now, I just find watching it on TV excruciatingly boring.....like watching nascar or golf.....boooring!!!

I think that comercials have ruined TV--that is the number and durration have made TV unwatchable (without a DVR).
