I have never experienced a bully for a table. I have given up a table
for a serious money game before. I have obtained a table before from
someone just fooling around, either by paying for the time, and/or by
buying them a round of drinks. Most people that have been around Pool
for a length of time, and know who the 'players' are will usually move to
another table for you. Sometimes, like in one place, money players prefer
not to play close to where Karaoke is going on. Nothing like some off tune
yokel singing to ruin your shot.... I say that seriously, those people should
be forced to listen to a recording of themselves before getting up and singing.
On another note, 1 thing that irritates me is the bravado of several people
to challenge a 9 ball challenge table to play for NOTHING, when they have
been there watching players play for $10 or $20 a game, and there are usually 3-4 players that are in the money challenge game. Used to be that
if you weren't willing to play for table stakes, you did not put your quarters
up to challenge. It is EXTREMELY rude to interrupt the flow of a challenge
money game going on, and besides the ones that want to play for free
never can shoot with a hoot anyway. I was playing on the 9 ball table
one evening for $10 a game with 4 other guys, and had held the table for
a few games, when this girl puts her quarters in, and I tell her we are playing
for $10 a game. She says, "oh, I just want to play for free". So I tell her,
"Listen, we have a money game going on, and I will play you for either
money or sex, and you get to chose which one." She quietly removed
her quarters and went and sat down like she should have to begin with.
