The movie did not show how pool really is, for the most part.
The question is, how can pool ever have a good image, if hollywood continues to show the bad side of pool, just to sell tickets? And also go to the extreme within the movie, in some spots?
Most of the folks I know, would not take there wives, grandaughters or mother to see and hear what went on within this movie.
I have a couple of close friends who did rent the movie, and they called me and said to me[no way will we got to a pool-room, if it's anything like that].
Well, this is all they saw, and will never go to a good clean pool-room, because of what hollywood has shown them. So, this bad image is stuck in there minds forever. That's hollywood. Pure, counter-fitt..Sell tickets, no matter who it hurts. Just sell those tickets.
If the image, gets cleaned up by hollowood, we will see a huge influx of folks coming to enjoy our sport.
For years now, pool has had a bad name and taken the worst of it. .
Today, this [old image] is not true for the most part. [there are still some seedie poolhalls out there]. More good ones than bad ones.
If we could have a movie that shows it like it is, and shows how proffesinals are makeing a living from this great sport, things would be differant. This would attract more folks to our great sport.
Along with "NEW"Corporate sponsership. Just think how this could and would, generate new pool-rooms and more players, who can play, that we have never seen?
It's a good clean sport, that can be played and enjoyed by one and all. But, hollywood is only selling tickets. The could care less of how it affects any who make a living from billiards and pool.
The movie, over all, did do more damage to pools image.
Not only is this my opinion, it's also the opinion from several of those who make a living building cues, selling equipment and for the most part, depend on pool and billiards to generate an income for there family's..
