Wouldn't a just God forgive them? I was raised to believe forgiveness is the whole premise behind christian religions.

The google estimate is for Homo Sapien Sapien 200,000 years, if you add Homo Sapien to this you about double the count over 700,000 years.
There is no reason to believe that wars started at year 0 (which does not exist).
Certainly the Egyptians had plethora of wars over 7,000BC-500BC, as did the sub Continental Indians 5,000BC-<well>present, Persians 7,000BC-<well> present, to say nothing about the tribes in Africa, Asia, Middle East, South America, ..... and every corner of the world for most of all known history.
If/when somebody had something somebody else wanted, and somebody else had enough bodies to throw at the problem, lots of people dies, and they got what they wanted.
In the BC era, something around 10% of soldiers on both sides dies every battle. There was a famous battle in Italy where 300,000 people died in one battle.

everybody i know that's been there says brazil is lovely and horrible at the same time. a friend who is 100% brazilian by ethnicity but born and raised in chile went to rio. got snatched and held at gunpoint in an alley for 2 hours. they saw he didn't belong

I watched a show once about a man, can’t temember his name, but highly respected PhD in his circles. He set out to prove that God didn’t exist, but wound up being a believer. He said if a group of people were to make up a story, like saying Jesus was the Son of God, or any other story for that matter, that as long as they were all together supporting each other they would stick to the story. The disciples went their separate ways into the world preaching the gospel, all alone, and even under the threat of death they stuck to it. Peter elected to be crucified upside down because he wasn’t worthy to die in the same manner as Christ. All he had to say was they made up the story and it wasn’t real but the disciples chose death!

Not the world I grew up. When will it stop? It managed and manages to get worse. Just the nature of the beast... and I'd get banned on Facebook for calling mankind a beast. Watch the end Planet of the Apes again. We blame the left/right and dick in the middle. Maybe it's just the way we(some) are...seems to be that way.
