Pool halls in Wilkes-Barre, PA area

I spend a lot of time around Wilkes-Barre. I haven't found any good places to play yet.

Anyone here have any suggestions?

Ed Matashonek {sp?} used to have a room in Wilkes-Barre. I don't know what it was called or where it was located. Seems like you should be able to google rooms in that area.
 
Pool Halls

Try Cosmo's in Dickson City it's only about 20 minutes north of Wilkes- barre.
Ed mutseneck used to have a pool room in Hazelton, I don't no if he still does. but there are 3 others there. Also nanticoke has rooms. And there is a real nice place in Pottsville name Alexandra's. It is right downtown at the Quality Inn.

Sorry I don't know if there are any poolhalls there, but I work at an office of Sallie Mae and I always have to tell people to send payments to the servicing center in Wilkes-Barre, PA. I even just learned the a few weeks ago it's prounounced Berry instead of Bar. It's not fun trying to tell someone an adress over the phone where the city name is a hyphenated 2 word phrase with a strange prounounciation. Sorry for the digression. Hope you find a place to play.

...I've googled it but thought i'd check with the AZ community to see if there were any "known" good spots. I'll check out some of your recommendations.

Straight pool - my sister-in-law works at that SallieMae service center and there's actually a third pronunciation - Wilkes-BEAR which I use because my wife and her family do. I've heard all three used interchangably in my twenty plus years of hanging out here.

I vote for Cosmo's Biliards!! Tan Simonis and great tables!!

It's now run by Greg Taylor. JPNEWT will be there in November for the PA State 9-Ball Championships!!

And if you could find out the pizzeria that Cosmo got me a white and red pizza from, you'll be in pizza heaven and ask yourself why you polluted your taste buds with pizza from other regions!! The crust is to die for!! My hubby (whom you've met) actually understood why I refuse to eat pizza from anywhere but the Wilkes-Barres/Scranton area!!! I actually ate pizza for breakfast for the first time since I was a kid. Mention the JPNEWT Tour coming there in November, and you'll have to pay! LOL!

Okay, if anyone from Dickson City who knows where Cosmo got that white pizza, my Special Spiced nuts to you!!

ED'S PLACE IS CALLED POCKETS 570-829-9449. Alexandra's I THINK IS CLOSED OR CLOSING, HE HAD ALL OF HIS EQUIPMENT FOR SALE. GUY'S & DOLL'S WAS IN A STRIP MALL, DON'T IF THEY ARE STILL IN BUS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

...how are you and your little hubby doing?!?;) I was just in Ft. Lauderdale and thought of you guys. For your spiced nuts I'll certainly make the trip up to Dickson City. I think they call that pitza around here (Hazleton anyway). Was it square?

Bankonit, I've been to Guys and Dolls (it's still there). Nice but the cloth they use is slooooow. I will have to give pockets a try.

I get to W-B occassionally for very short visits. That is were I grew up.
I don't know the name of the place, but there is a pool room right on Public Square, in the middle of town. My last time in town, I walked in to check it out. It looked nice, but it was a little smokey. There were plenty of 9' tables. You may want to give it a try, if you haven't already.
 
pockets is closed as well as alexandrias in pottsville ,,the only ones close or relatively close to you are pockets in dickson city,,,,ed matashoniks cue time in hazleton,very nice room,570-459-0165,,and gals in ashland,,,used to be alot more but they are all closing lately
