Pool Has A Lot Of Haters

Over the years I've been around a lot of people that disliked or hated pool. Some tried it a few times when they were younger and when they saw how much time they needed to put into it to become better than average they quit it. A lot were just against the gambling and thought that was all pool was about. My Fathers side of the family was all old time Southern Baptists. Growing up my Dad couldn't even listen to a baseball game on the radio or music on Sunday's.

But the most stated reason told to me after a few drinks was that they got hustled in a poolroom at a young age or they became pretty good (like a "B" player) and took a bad beating for money. A lot of them don't ever come back it hurts so much. When they would tell me their stories of how some con artist hustler took them to the cleaners I felt bad for them for a few seconds. But then I remembered one of the things my Dad told me. He was a fair road player in his day, so I have been told from others. He said, "Don't play anyone you don't know for decent money and you'll never get hustled."

What I'm saying is there are a lot of pool haters out there. Johnnyt

Gee Johnny, from your post I would have to say there are a lot of hustler-haters out there, not pool-haters.
