No big tournaments that I know of in July. Everyone will be out surfing. Why don't you bring your board and we'll paddle out.

No problem, I got tricked at first too and got excited. I live literally 3 minutes from his shop.
I tried surfing once in Hawaii................not pretty.
Feel free to stop by my shop (Pasadena, CA) for a tough game of anything
How far of a drive from L.A.?
From downtown maybe 15-20 min without traffic, from West LA 30-40 min
Closer than I thought......I'll try to check it out.
Are you only looking for weekend action? If not, here are tournaments I recommend during the week as well, closer to Orange County and Hard Times:
Monday: 8 Ball Tournament (Handicapped) at Danny K's Billiards

Tuesday: 9 Ball Tournament (Handicapped) at Hot Shots Billiards

Wednesday: 9 Ball Tournament (Handicapped) at Danny K's Billiards
Thursday: 9 Ball Tournament (Handicapped) at Hard Times Billiards
17450 Bellflower Boulevard, Bellflower, CA 90706-6604 (562) 867-7733
These are all great, competitive, well-run and successful tournaments. Usually they are $10-$15 entry. In traffic, takes about an hour to get to most of these places from DT. And you can always find action afterwards. Hope this helps.
