pool in philly

I'm looking for a good pool hall to play 8/9/14.1 in. I consistently beat the competition at school and want to test my skill against a new set of people (not gambling, sorry). Any suggestions?

There's Tacony Billiards or Drexeline that I can think of...they're just outside of Philly.

you have drexelline, tacony, ballbusters, willie mosconis, D&D, and if you want to test your nine ball, tues. nite drexelline has a handicapped 9-Ball tournament and thurs nite hot shot (in deptford nj) has a handicapped 9-Ball tournament.

also petey fusco has a room right outside philly, not exactly sure where

The best place to go to play the games you mentioned is Drexeline. Good players, friendly place. At Tacony, they primarily play one-pocket and back-pocket 9-ball, and few will do so w/out betting something.

Petey Fusco's room, The Spot, is in Bristol, northeast of Philly. It's off the beaten path, and I had trouble finding it.

Drexeline's tourney is probably still the best value -- $5 entry, loser pays time, with buybacks (if that's still the format). Hot Shots' tourney is a little smaller lately, but they just moved to a new location nearby and the room and equipment are both awesome.

i told you some of the best players r in philly. the just don't go to school.
well actually the best r in the east coast. Maryland and north on the coast. particularlly in philly.

test your skills in some one pocket,I'll be back in july, hot shot billiards in deptford.I'll give you 10 / 6

never played one pocket before, although i've seen it. i think i'm gonna start out at drexeline and see what happens there. only been playing with my 5K2 Predator for a few months.

i don't gamble. the only time i did was at school where i knew i could make money. it worked for a while until people realized i wasn't losing. i'm here to learn and make myself a better pool player.

Better look up the definition of 'gamble'!!:)

anyone planning on going to drexeline or other local pool hall soon? i think it would be cool to meet up with some az'ers and have some fun and hopefully learn from people better then me

I will be at drexeline tomorrow probably early afternoon, my name is Ray, I just started playing APA and I got a playoff thing tomorrow night, so I promised my captain I would practice at least one time

If you want to go to a pool room with no gamble in it, check out Classic Billiards just outside of Philly. I went there during the Valley Forge expo with a couple pool players and when I asked people if they gambled they looked at me like I was speaking Russian or something. LOL.
