" Pool in the News - AZ man stabbed over slug rack? "

thinking AZBilliards, still what is this world coming too, i would of just broke some bones. JK.

The Tumbleweed Inn? Don't think we have one of those here in NYC.

We used to have a lot of people very sesnsitive about the rack, but now that everyone's read Joe Tucker's excellent book "Racking Secrets". it's less of a problem ......... ah, if only it were so simple.

A road hustler once noted to me what he considered two key principles when you gamble against someone you're not sure you can trust.

1) play rack your own, so you don't get stiffed out of a chance to make a ball on the break
2) bet by the rack and pay/collect after every rack, so you can't get stiffed out of much cash

Dandy reply, absolutely, dont waste time busting thumbs, just stab them or put a cap in their ass next time they slug you, right on dudes. That is the kind of publicity we need for this sport. Rack em wrong and you die.
:D

If you're playing competitive match without a referee, you need to rack your own. Opponent should rack only in casual games.

If someone was giving me a bad rack, I'd simply ask to rack the balls myself. I certainly wouldn't stab anyone...besides, I would never play in bars, only in proper pool halls.

Yep, you took the words right out from my mouth. If my opponent wants to keep on racking, I just check every rack and make sure the rack is nice and tight, but also straight and near the spot. Tainted racking doesn't always mean racking loose, the rack could be tilted thus disabling you from making your wing ball consistently. If you change sides, your opponent just tilts the rack the other way...

If it gets to the point where it's clear I can't trust my opponent to give me a fair rack I stop playing. I don't play a cheater.

At a 8 ball tournament (small one) about a year ago I had a guy give me a loose rack and I saw him do it on purpose. So I just hit the head ball hard enough to make a few balls hit the rail. Walked away from the table saying "go for it!" I left him completely hooked about 4 times before kicking his ass.
