Danny,
Many thanks for your participation on AZB. Many of us are curious as to your pool history; specifically who were your main influences growing up? How did you achieve such a high level of play? Who are the very best players you have competed against? Thanks.

Hi

The main reason I went Pro was because of a man by the name of John Wilson, he was managing a pool room here in Spfd,Mo and we were friends. As time went on he began to gamble with some of the top players around but he had never played Darren, myself, or 'Pee Wee.' When we finally played I won and he barred me on the spot even though there were no harsh words or disagreements, I was about 16 and this was where all of my friends would hang out plus it was the nicest room in town by far. What I did not know was this barred me from the state tournament also, I then met a man downtown who owned an old style pool hall and after I could win against him he took me on the road. I really didn't gamble in John's place as much as just practice with my friends, all of the sudden I could not go where my friends were and not to mention all the pretty college girls. I believe that while I was on the road I began to visualize in my mind how I could get even with this room owner who had tried to muscle me, the only thought that kept burning in my mind was to one day be on TV playing pool and that would show them who tried to hold me back.
Well I was in Lincoln, Nebraska and ran into a nice fellow there who offered to sponsor me on the men's PBT, I was scared although this was my dream so I ran with it and the first tournament I entered I got on TV and finished 2nd to Mike Sigel. I am not the only one to have gotten barred from this particular room as I warned my buddy 'Pee Wee' not to play John or he would get barred and he did also. Later on down the road John and I got along again but all of it happened for a reason and I would not be the player I am today if it would not have been for this incident.
Hope this does the trick, Danny Harriman

Danny,
Many thanks. I've been a fan since purchasing the Accu-Stats video of your match with George Breedlove. You made some INCREDIBLE outs. I also watched a couple of your matches at DCC 2 years ago. Your dress and professional demeanor really set you apart from the majority of the players there - if more of the players followed your example, the sport would definitely be better. JMO.

Danny, Is this the same John Wilson that's involved with the tournaments out of Trueloves in Oklahoma City these days? Doesn't matter, just curious.

Re: Bob

No, the fellow that I played passed away in an automobile crash but he was a great player (top 3 in MO.) He was from Macon, MO a very small town.

Remember Me?

Hello Danny - I'm glad to see how your game has progressed and I have become a fan.
I forget if we have ever played but I think we have. Usually when I forget a match, it means I lost.
You mentioned John Wilson. I saw him just before the accident and he was working with Steve Evers on tables. He was playing very good and seemed to finally have his act together. What a shame & loss.
Hey, how about coming to St. Louis once in a while? As everywhere (in summer) things are slow right now but there is always action especially if Terry Huelsman (an owner) is around (as he is now) at The Break in Cahokia, IL. There have been a lot of large matches there in the last few years and Terry is the one running around with the target on his back. He is a very nice fellow to gamble with and is actually looking for tough games. Not at all like me. It really is good to see your game at the level you have achieved.
Do you play bar boxes? There is going to be a Mid-West 9 Ball tourney @ The Break in Sept. and there is always good Action & Steaks.

hey

Hey Danny. I just thought I would say hello. Give me a call if you hear of any tournaments close by. I think there is one in Alton, Illiniois this weekend. Best of luck.

Hi Danny ...

Danny ... Hi. I have talked to you some when you played here in Wichita,
mostly at SidePockets. Enjoyed your TV match, wish you could have won
(you too, huh? ... lol). Still remember that hybrid jumpstick you use to use?
Are you still using it or have you gotten another one?

You are a very good player, and a credit to our sport.

Re: Scott

I'm no longer using the Frog jump cue, it was a great cue for jumping the balls but I think once they started the phenolic tip stuff it kind of hurt the quality of the game. I don't play as much as I used to cause of the poor state of the men's tour but I still am playing in the 10 ball tourneys down in Florida but no more 9 ball untill the $ get's better.
Thanks for the positive comments,
'little Danny'
