I need another surgery in my hand.
Three months ago, I had surgery in my left hand. My middle finger was locking up due to "trigger-finger". My doc cut up my palm and made incissions on the pulleys under the middle finger. That fixed it.
Now, my right hand middle finger has developed trigger finger as well.
So, my bridge hand went haywire first.
Now, my grip hand needs fixin' as well.
Thank God for insurance. Surgery costs like 8 grand each time.
Joey~Wondering if he can declare this as work-related injury~

I don't think even Perry Mason could pull that one off, that would be extremely hard to prove. I think it's more of a malady that just comes on and doesn't have much to do with work or injury. Just hope that it doesn't turn into this in later years...Dupuytren's Syndrome. Do a google search on it and read everything you can. It's a pretty nasty problem and without surgery you end up losing use of your hands and fingers since they curl up into your palm like a fist and you have no mobility. My father contracted it in the latter years of his life and the Dr. said that it is hereditary, but usually not in the next generation...whew! Good luck........

DM, my doctor did not mention Dupuytren.
He said it was just trigger finger.
Not quite as bad as carpal tunnel but it's still a drag.

The surgery sounds very similar to Dupuytren's, although not quite as extensive due to the fact that it has to be done for all of the fingers in the hand. Only the Dr. can get you a work related claim or disability. It's just like when you wanted to weasel out of finals for a week because you didn't pick up a book. Get a note from the Dr.! See what he says, that's the only way.

So Joey...I guess the old wive's tale about going blind if you did "it" to excess wasn't true at all...what really happens is you'll come down with trigger
finger(s). :p Ohhhh nooooo....look at MY hands....they're locking up!!!

I Feel Your Pain

Joey, they operated on my wrist last November. Really screwed up my grip hand. They removed a bone and fused four other bones together with a metal plate. This was done for pain relief. I have more pain today than I ever did. I went to another doctor and he said the plate they put in to fuse the bones was hitting my arm bone. OUCH. He gave me a cordizone shot and said if it didn't work, he wanted to remove the plate. 6 to 8 more weeks in a cast and unrepairable dammage to my game. The only thing I enjoyed was the 24 hours with the morphine pump. :D I hope you have a better experience than I did.

Don, I had cortizone shot on my left hand as well.
It worked for a while but it stopped.
Since cortizone shots are more painful than surgery anyway, I scratched that idea.
My left hand is great now ( knock 3x ). I hoep you get well too.
DM, my boss knows it's pool related injury.
I dunno that old wives' tale. :p

Well Good Luck Joey.
I hope we don't use the same bridge :p .
Cause i don't have insurance :( .

Thanks,

Jon

Good luck Joey with the surgery. I remember you telling me about your left hand, and how the operation was a complete success. I'm sure the same will be true for your right.

Incidentally, my left hand has developed a numbness/tingling for the past 2 weeks. No idea what caused it, but it seems to be going away.

Take care,
Roger

Roger,

I know what you are talking about (the numbness/tingling). It's annoying isn't it?
It happens every now and then.
But it goes away.
Every now and then, my (left) forearm and thumb will twitch too. That's annoying as hell man lol.

Thanks,

Jon

Quit that SlimFast diet.
Either that or you've consumed way too many Ding Dongs and Mtn. Dew. :D

Hey now, i find that offensive :D .
Never used that slimfast shit lol.
Ding Dongs suck, I'm a nutty bar man.
Mtn. Dew really sucks, I like Diet Dr. Pepper :D .

It sounds like you need to lay off all of that cue porn... "trigger finger" huh?

Thanks,

Jon

Jon...don't you find it ironic that it happened to the "middle finger" of both hands? I wouldn't be surprised if they also had to do electrolysis for the hair growing in his palms. ;)

Ahahahahahaha!!!! U guys are killin' me. :D
Spider bridge ala Efren and Archer does that to your middle finger.
What really sukks about this is, it's getting into my cuemaking.
I cannot joint and unjoin cues b/c my right hand has no grip right now.
One more week and I see my quack again.
I can lay off playing pool but I can't stop making stix.

morphine-gotta love it!

Joey, good luck with your surgery hopefully it doesn't keep you from shooting for too long, back in April I had a skin graft done on my right wrist and couldn't shoot for about six weeks even though it was my bridge hand, drove me crazy not being able to play.

Thanks Sniper.
Now, these two comedians are gonna jump on you for having skin graft. :D
I might learn how to shoot left-handed with open bridge for a while.
I should be able to use my right-hand limitedly within 3 days after surgery.
It's really a minor surgery. Local anaesthesia is used.

Can you still tie the cue to the palm of your hand? Asside from whacking your finger on the edge of the pool table from time to time, i don't see a problem......Kidding!! :)

All the best for a speedy recovery partner. St out.

Do take care, Joey.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and get back to do what you like ASAP. :)

I must've slept on my hand all night, and pinched a nerve. The first few days I could hardly play at all, my bridge hand would be moving and I couldn't even feel it. Now it's getting better, or I'm getting used to it.

I was accused of being a big pussy when I bitched about my hand in the pool hall. You know how it is, they're a bunch of rough, brutal people.
