This set of small races makes you want to read off scores in McEnroe's voice.

Filler d. Fedor Gorst 1-4, 4-1, 4-1

Filler defeats Gorst 1-4 4-1 4-1 in 3 sets.

I enjoy the sets format, find them more interesting to watch than long races to 13.
I realize it is not as fair, and I'd prefer win by 2 in the third set like a tennis major but it's more interesting to watch IMO

I’ve grown to like it. I get it. They are trying to make it more exciting I guess. 2 possible hill hill races 🤷‍♂️

Tennis scoring remains consistant through the years, not to mention the ATP have actual standards. Everyone just making up their own rules and formats takes away from the game of pool.

I agree. Multiple shorter sets keeps the tension higher, longer.

That said, shootouts need to go away. Just play more racks.

I like the short races, which magnify the importance of each error. Any mistake can cost you a set, so the stakes are high. We, similarly, love the Mosconi Cup races to five because we're always on the edge.

I can't stand the shootouts, a tiebreaker that tests only one of the many skills of the players, but as I've noted before, if these shootouts help sell the game, I'm in favor.
