Pool Lessons/Gift Certificate Idea

A couple of years ago, I started a thread looking for someone to give me some coaching lessons. I didn't get much of a response and I didn't pursue it because I kinda laid off the game for a while.

My birthday is in a couple of days and my family has been asking me what I want. I don't need anything and I really couldn't think of anything I wanted, so I finally settled on a reliable gift request - a gift certificate from Academy Sporting Goods.

I starting thinking about my gift certificate request and pondered the following: Why couldn't someone buy a pool lesson gift certificate from a top level local (within the state) player? It seems to me that this would be a great gift idea for an amateur/banger level player. There was a previous thread where John Schmidt offered a deal where a person could stay at his house and get lessons. It seems like more top level players should advertise their expertise and also package it as a gift idea.

Any comments? By the way, just because I was seeking lessons doesn't mean I am a banger.

Top level local player can mean a lot of people. Many of which you would be wasting your money on. Guys like John S. and a few others are good teachers. However, many top players can play great, but can't explain what they are doing, how, or even why. Anytime you are going to get lessons from anyone, ask around first, see who else they have taught, and get some references. Same as with anything else. I have seen local good players trying to help others, and I just sit, watch, and cringe. Many of them have no clue how to help someone elses game, and end of causing more harm than help.

I have seen this also, not working on students stance, when they do not even know where or how to put their feet and eyes, instead trying to show them a point to try to hit while cutting a ball .Good Point

Always a great idea. About 20% of our School business is from a gift certificate......SPF=randyg

Whether you are a banger or an insanepoolgod that man RandyG can fill that Gift Certificate for you. He's so close to you up in Many, that's only a couple hours away. His School, and their Staff of Instructor's is renowned among the very best. Great Idea!

If you are lucky enough to get a gift certificate for Randy Gs. pool school I bet you will thank the person that gave it to you every time you play from now on... Talk about a gift that keeps on giving. That would be it.

I've offered gift certificates for pool lessons for years.

They are smart gifts for the player who is particular about their equipment. It's a great idea for a significant other that doesn't want to their gift to be a "bowling ball." (Think Fred Flintstone giving Wilma a bowling ball as her birthday gift.)

How would I determine which course is best for me? Do you have standard guidelines?

Most Advanced players take the Second Course. We label this ADVANVED CLASS. This Class is designed to clean your Physical & Mental game up...SPF=randyg
