So, my girlfriend AKA wife without papers FINALLY want's to learn how to play. Now I am a solid 7 apa rating and have helped a few people to be good players, but obviously I think it would be better to get her pro level lessons right out the gate for a multitude of reasons, learning curve, foundation, and I want her to kick ass so we can play scotch ect. My question is who would be the best choice for her since she is basically statring from 0. She actually got me a 5 pack of lessons from Dan louie for my bday that I haven't used yet. So the only guys I know of are for lessons are Louie, Geiler, and Todd Marsh, I know Louie has a world champion title and I think Geiler and Marsh have BCA Master and Grand master titles, but I have no clue about there teachings... So anyone with insight would be much appreciated, My girl was a collegaite vollyball player so she is krazy competitive and if she isnt good at something to begin with well its a problem... Anyway like I said any insight would be great.

You can't go wrong with Dan, Richie or Todd for lessons. I suggest you take her along to meet Danny when you have your lesson, and have her sit nearby and observe. She will learn something about pool and about taking lessons, and will know if she wants Dan to teach her. My guess is that she will like him, as all normal people like Dan Louie.
If she is a true newbie, check out some pool books that cover the basics (grip, stance, stroke) and the internet has tons of free info that could help you both.

You may want to try the BCA website for instructors in your area. There are several in WA to choose from. Also, you can invest in books, already mentioned, and/or dvds. I have several of each. The dvd I favor is "How to Play Pool Right" with Jerry Briesath. Jerry is a BCA Master Instructor and his approach and presentation is very good and also is easy to follow.

Please....it's now about who is a better teacher (men/women)...it's about the same thing as in the rest of our lives...men and women simply speak a different 'language' from one another. I have found that most women feel condescended to when being taught by a man...and that the men have very little patience when compared to a woman. This is what I have been told by the women I have taught.
There are some excellent women players in NW WA. See if she can connect with one for some beginning skills and tips.

Thank you, That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I talked to my girlfriend and she is gonna go with me when I start my lessons with Dan.
