i was watching gabe owen and thomas engert today on espn and i wondered....did these guys look in the mirror before that match or what?

did you see their hair? and it is not just them; it looks like a new trend with the players on tv. i swear, i haven't seen hair that awful since a flock of seagulls. engert looked like the lead singer of prodigy in the firestarter video.

do they do their hair themselves or is there a stylist that gets them fixed up just for tv. i saw gabe a few times a couple of years ago at louisville, nashville, and poplar bluff and his hair did not look like that i don't think; not that i go around checkin out guys hair but it was too noticeable on tv.

and if there is someone behind the scenes fixing these guys up so they can promote a good "image", then they need to be fired asap.

btw, what was up with the matching sweaters????

I noticed two things:

a) I'd seen the match before

b) The camera almost always shows the shot from in front of the player.

Somebody should send ESPN a schedule of pool tournaments so they can keep it fresh. I don't see the same Cardinals game on tv repeatedly.

I'd like to see a different angle on the camera so I can tell where the players are striking the cue ball to get position.

But, that's just me and what do I know?

As far as their hair is concerned, it looked like they were using some sort of grease. Reminds me of the time when I was a kid and I accidently put some of my dad's top brass on the toothbrush. Not good.

ESPN thinks it is more important to see how the ball looks when it is dropping into the pocket.

The producer and announcer need to get their act together. I don't know how many times one of the announcers will say watch this stroke and they switch to that pocket cam.

you have to understand something.......pool is filler. something to fill dead air-time.

I used to tape the matches but after being prempted by many times I now look to see what is on before. If it is a girls softball game, baseball, spelling bee, etc you know that the show will not be shown. If it is just their Best Damn or Cold Pizza you have a good chance of it being shown.

Even with that I don't even bother taping them and have taped over all the matches that I have "saved". With 9 ball they all seem to be the same but just different players. Come to think of if there are times when I have watched reruns on Nick instead of their lame pool production.

At least with the pocket cam you can sometimes actually watch the PLAYER hit the shot! It is sooooooooo stupid how they show just the front half of the cue stick and the two balls during every shot. What about the player's form, style, etc.?????? Yeah, "Watch this stroke,"....how????

It is like if they were doing a baseball game and the camera only showed the bat, the hitter's hands and the baseball...on EVERY swing! How stupid would that be? As stupid as their pool productions, that's how.

There, I feel better.
